To the bald guy driving behind me on 7 this morning toward albany, do you think i can teleport through traffic?

While in the left lane driving into work this morning around 7:30-7:40, I was behind two cars on the 7. Usual. Not crazy. The 7 is always packed. i was already following closer than i’d like and was coasting to keep some distance. Some bald guy, who i hope to god is reading this, comes up behind me in his beater subaru (?) SUV flashing his lights at me, honking, and riding my bumper.

Dude. It is 7:30 am. It is rush hour. There are other cars on the road. I literally had a big F-150 in front of me, which i KNOW YOU SAW as you so lovingly drove on the shoulder to look around my car.

I CANT GO ANY FASTER THAN THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. HOLY SHIT. GET A GRIP. THIS IS THE SHIT THAT CAUSES ACCIDENTS.

Thank you for allowing me to rant this out. I truly hope bald guy has the worst day ever.

Septic Tank Replacement Costs

Got the news that our septic tank needs replacing and wondering what people have paid recently. Looking at a 1200 gallon tank.

We’re located right on the edge of Schenectady and Saratoga counties but this subreddit is bigger than those so I thought I’d start here.

Thanks!

The new GirlBoss?

I found another GirlBoss (probably the same person trying to loose that reputation she had going). She was going up the northway yesterday. Bitch almost killed me and 6 other people in the 30 minutes I was driving along side her. Fuckkk these people.

USPS is wild

I’m waiting for a package to be delivered and watching the tracking updates has been insane. Since May 13, this has been its journey in order so far:

Frederick, Maryland
New Market, Maryland
Linthicum Heights, Maryland
Springfield, Massachusetts
Albany, New York
Olathe, Kansas
Kansas City, Missouri
Warrendale, Pennsylvania
Albany, New York (first time wasn’t good enough?)

My package is just sightseeing at this point.

Date Night Suggestions for this weekend?

it’s been a minute since hubby and i have had a real date night. we’re tired of doing the same dinner routine then being back home an hour later lol. what’s actually good/new around the capital region these days?

looking for more of a lounge/speakeasy vibe with good drinks, chill music, nice ambiance, comfy seating, maybe even live music or a dj depending on the night. somewhere you can actually hang out for a while and enjoy the atmosphere instead of feeling rushed out after dinner. open to albany/troy/schenectady/saratoga etc.

Local Conservative Party head returns to county job after using homophobic slurs

Thought a few people would be curious to know that Bill Fiacco is back at work with the County; less than 2 weeks after being suspended for using homophobic slurs on social media.

I have been trying to determine whether the suspension was paid or not; it is however damning that the County refuses to elaborate on that detail.

I’m a County employee who has to routinely deal with Fiacco. One fact I want to correct both the County PR and Times Union on is his job title/responsibilities: he is much higher up than “a maintenance supervisor at the courthouse”.
In the years I’ve worked with him, he has repeatedly been referred to and presented himself as the Superintendent of Buildings. As in, he oversees the entire Rensco Building Department and handles numerous sites and jobs beyond the one courthouse (he reports directly to Jim Gordon and Rich Crist). He is also often deeply involved in internal political and personnel matters.
He has both mediated and been the source of workplace grievances multiple times that I have witnessed alone. He has way more power and influence in the County than he is being presented as having in the press on this. And this is far from being the first time he’s gotten into trouble for running his mouth too much. I was in fact retaliated against in the past for complaining about his behavior so forgive me for not wanting to ID myself and rock the boat more.

Seems to me like he likely got a paid vacation for being a cyber bully. Like most of the deplorable behavior by the county admin this will likely just get swept back under the rug because nobody cares enough to ever hold these people accountable; even for something so blatantly hateful that was literally written publicly. The only reason they gave him a slap on the wrist is because he broke a core tenant for county admin: NEVER PUT ANYTHING INTO WRITING.

Residential groundhog removal

Looking for a solid referral for someone who can legally remove a groundhog, and possibly its family, from underneath the backside of my house. They’ve been living here for about 3 years now. I’ve tried smoke bombs, repellents, and hot sauce, but they don’t seem to go away.

House is located on Hurlbut St, between Delaware Ave and 2nd Ave.

Simple Wedding

My fiancé and I live in Scotia and are looking to get married pretty simply and easily sometime over the summer - does anyone have an experience with local city hall or court weddings they could share? Specifically in getting an officiant, scheduling the ceremony, etc.

We’re thinking probably 6 guests max for the ceremony with a larger celebration at a later date. As the non-mushy one in our relationship I feel very out of my depth in planning even something quick like this - never really expected to be getting married, to be honest!

I know getting a friend ordained to officiate is an option, it’s not something we‘re really pursuing but happy to hear about your experience there as well, including where you had the ceremony if it wasn’t a traditional venue.

Thank you!

Buddhist Statue Stolen, $$ Reward

I have a ~10 yr old kid (fat, black hair bowl-ish cut, yellow shirt grey shoes with white soles, appears Asian or latino) on video coming up onto our porch and stealing my dead grandparents’ large concrete buddha statue right off the porch at 6:45am yesterday, Besch Ave off Delaware.

Comes up a couple times, looks right in the camera, walks off with it. going to the police as well as administration for each of the local middle schools, will also be handing out fliers to find this little criminal.

Offering significant monetary reward for its return
