Stabbing pain in gum after permanent filling

Hi everyone,

I had a permanent filling done last Wednesday on an upper left molar. This tooth had a temporary filling for about 3 months (it had a pulpitis that calmed down).

Starting 4 days after the procedure, I developed strange symptoms that I’m trying to understand before my dentist appointment Thursday.

My symptoms:

•	Stabbing/electric shock pain in the gum like a needle poking

•	Comes in episodes 3-4x per day, lasting 5-10 minutes then disappears completely

•	Completely random triggers —happened while driving, eating once, but mostly spontaneous

•	Localized to upper left gum, exactly where the injection was given

•	Numb/frozen feeling that persists in that area between episodes

•	No sensitivity to cold

•	No swelling visible

•	Sleeping perfectly fine — no nighttime pain at all

Context:

•	Tooth was healthy before the procedure and responded normally to cold test

•	Temporary was placed due to a pulpitis that had resolved 3 months ago

•	No throbbing, no constant pain just weird numb sensation,no facial swelling

Has anyone experienced something similar after a filling? How long did it take to resolve?

Thanks 🙏
