Extremely rapidly developing cavity - does this look saveable?

Extremely rapidly developing cavity - does this look saveable?

Hi… please be gentle with me because i’m quite horrified and embarassed at myself

I found a small cavity on one of my upper premolars about one week ago, and thought to leave it until my next check up (scheduled for August) as it was so small.

I just had a look at it again today and it has gotten SO MUCH BIGGER + DEEPER in such a short amount of time, i’m honestly horrified. The upper photo is from today, and the lower was taken last week. I have been brushing my teeth more carefully since discovering this cavity in hopes of it not developing too much further, however..

I will call my dentist first thing tomorrow morning however I am unsure what to do until they can fit me in for an appointment.

Please could anyone tell me whether this tooth looks like it can be saved with a filling or would it possibly need a RCT…. I do not feel any pain at the moment and have tried to clean inside the hole with a pick and it doesn’t hurt (yet..) however the image is shocking me

should i go to a&e

earlier today i was eating toast and realised i could no longer feel a loose wire i was scheduled to have fixed this week so i’m assuming i’ve swallowed it. the bracket broke off a few weeks ago so the wire has been loose for a little while. it’s on my back molar, it was the very last bracket, and apparently that’s a very small piece of wire which is a relief. below i’ve circled the tooth that the wire was along. i have ocd and pretty bad health anxiety to i’m a bit panicky rn, i’m in no pain but i feel like i’ve convinced myself i’m having trouble breathing. should i go get an xray? or will this just pass? if anyone could share their experience with this i’d really appreciate it

Root Canal - Was it needed.

My son was complaining of some pain in his mouth so we brought him to the dentist. We were told that he needed a root canal. I have a hard time believing he needed a root canal. Can someone confirm that by looking at this x-ray.

Thank you.

Some white thing appear in gums, after dry socket treatment

Sorry, english is not my native language.

What is this? After a tooth extraction, I had a dry socket, which was naturally painful. The socket was freshened up yesterday to induce bleeding, and Alvogyl was applied. Now a white spot is appearing on the gum—I don't know what it is. My mouth is still sore, though not as painful as it was with the dry socket. Does this white thing require another visit to the dentist?

URGENT:Worried about possible HIV/hepatitis exposure after unhygienic dental examination

Today I went to a Dental College for a checkup and the overall environment and instrument handling seemed extremely unhygienic to me.

During my examination, the dentist was quite aggressive while checking my teeth and gums. I have a gum growth that I specifically asked them to examine, and they poked the growth and my gums with dental instruments. Later tonight, when I brushed my teeth, my gum started bleeding.

What concerns me most is how the instruments were being handled. After examining me, the dentist placed the used instrument on the examination counter of the next patient area. From what I observed, instruments seemed to be picked up from counters without any clear separation between used and clean instruments.

After coming home, I found a reviews from 3 people claiming to work at the college. The reviewer alleged that there were serious problems in the sterilization section, including rats, improper hygiene, hepatitis cross-infections, and inspectors being bribed to cover things up.

I'm now terrified that an instrument previously used on another patient may have been used on me without proper sterilization. Since my gums were poked and later bled, I'm specifically scared about HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C transmission.

I know that I don't have proof that the instrument used on me was contaminated, and I don't know whether any previous patient had HIV or hepatitis. But because HIV PEP is time-sensitive, I'm scared of dismissing the possibility and later regretting it.

For doctors or healthcare professionals: does this situation warrant going to an emergency department or ART centre for an HIV PEP assessment? What should I do about possible hepatitis B exposure since I'm unvaccinated?

I'm extremely anxious and would appreciate factual advice about the actual medical risk and what steps I should take now.

Referred for a root canal, but unsure if its needed?

Pardon the lengthy explanation. Two cleanings ago (1 year) I had a new set of xrays taken and was told during the examination that everything looked good. In my last cleaning (6mo ago), I developed a bit of sensitivity in the upper right. The dentist that reviewed it, who was a different doctor than the previous one, said the xrays looked fine but that my gumline was slightly receding which could be weakening the barrier to the nerve thus causing sensitivity. Gave me some special toothpaste and habits to improve gum health and sent me on my way. On my most recent visit about a week ago, at the examination, the dentist (who was again a different one from before) looked at the xray and said everything looked clear until I brought up the sensitivity. He quickly double taked at the xrays, adjusted the contrast on the imaging and noted a root canal was needed on #2, wrote up an endodontist referral for that, and also highlighted 4 other locations that he wanted to use curodont on.

The sensitive area I am talking about typically only reacts to cold, pressure/chewing or warm temperatures wont trigger it. When something cold does touch it, I will feel a quick shock but it will not linger. Afterwards, if more cold continues to touch it, I won't feel any discomfort, it 'gets used to it' in a sense.

I later called the endodontist to set up an appointment, and when describing my condition they were shocked to hear that a year old xray containing a tooth that needed a root canal had come this far without being noticed, and that if it were the case, the lack of pain I am in. The dentist that referred me also wasn't in their database, which could be contributed to them just being new, but we both found it odd. I still made the appointment but ever since I have been second guessing. I am not trying to discredit my dental institution, but they go through doctors like copy paper, rarely every do I see the same one twice, and it took 3 different exams to find a root canal worthy cavity on a year old xray. The sensitivity is there but only on cold contact, definitely not something I'd need to take a pain med for.

After estimates from the dentist and endodontist for the canal and the following crown, it comes to about 2k out of pocket after my insurance. It's a hit I can take, but I'd obviously rather not if it can be avoided while maintaining good health. I've been considering switching dentists and getting a quick exam just to get a second opinion and see if its truly necessary. I would hopefully assume that if I go to my endodontist appointment, they would look for themselves to see if the procedure is truly necessary before going ahead with it?

I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the xrays to share. And pardon any naivety, the wider world of medical care is hard for me to step into. I would still like to take the route that gives me the best dental health. I don't drink/smoke, but I do enjoy a good amount of sugar free carbonated beverages that I am aware make dental problems more likely.

How bad? Gingivitis or Periodontitis? Reversible or irreversible? I’m so worried.

Some of my gums bleed a little bit whenever I floss. I can’t actually see my teeth move at all but they feel ever so slightly loose with my finger. Slight soreness to certain teeth immediately after flossing but then goes away. My bottom row of teeth looks the worst in terms of gums. My dentist appointment isn’t until Wednesday.

Are there any options for replacement teeth.

So I had a tooth that grew in behind one of my baby teeth. It got removed when I was young but the one that grew in the back stayed and I never got braces. Now my smile looks like I'm always missing a tooth and it's like my biggest insecurity. I'm 18. And I want to be able to smile again, I saw that apparently you can buy temporary teeth is that worth it for me? I kind of what semi instant results. Something I don't have to wait years for I feel like I've waited long enough.

My front tooth has decayed down to the root and is buried under the gum. How will the dentist remove it? I'm extremely anxious

I've been trying to get dental treatment since I was a teenager, but I have severe anxiety, panic attacks, hyperventilation, acid reflux, and allergies. Because of these issues, I was never able to complete my dental treatment.

What started as needing just one filling eventually progressed to my entire mouth becoming severely decayed.

I'm now starting the long process of having my teeth extracted, and I'm extremely stressed. My anxiety has become so overwhelming that I'm seeing a psychiatrist.

I'm especially worried about my front teeth. They were filled years ago, but now they're beyond saving. They've decayed so badly that they're completely below the gum line—I can't even see the teeth anymore.

How would a dentist normally remove teeth like this? If the roots are buried under the gums, what is the procedure? Do they have to cut the gum or remove some bone? How long does it usually take? I can't keep my mouth open for very long because of my anxiety.

For context, I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, and I don't use recreational drugs. I'm 30 years old and I live in Thailand. Unfortunately, some dentists have refused to treat me because of how difficult my anxiety makes dental treatment.

Also, sometimes when I bend over, blood slowly seeps out from a small opening in the gum where that tooth is. It doesn't happen all the time, but it scares me.

If I have the easier teeth extracted first and this one has to wait for quite a while, could the tooth that's buried under the gum become dangerous or even life-threatening?

I've read online that a severe dental infection can spread into the bloodstream and cause sepsis. Is that something I should realistically be worried about in my situation?

I'm feeling very sad and scared. If anyone has had a similar experience, or if any dentists could explain what usually happens in cases like this, I would really appreciate it.

What is this behind my upper left back tooth? I’m scared.

I just noticed this tonight after brushing, there is pain and it looks like skin, but I want to make sure it’s not an abscess. I know for bacterial things like this, I can take antibiotics like doxycycline, which i do have on hand. But what is your recommendation.

Would a person’s teeth move this significantly from locked in syndrome or is this clickbait?

Before and after look like two completely different people.

Can stem cells be extracted from adult wisdom teeth?

Hello everyone!

I am planning to get my wisdom teeth removed soon!

But I have been trying to read up on stem cell research and future use!

There is not a lot of info online, some said "only milk teeth/teeth up to age 20 years of age" can be used for this purpose.

  1. Can stem cells be extracted from adult wisdom teeth, too?

  2. How does preservation work? Is there a special liquid/freezing/cryogenic method that needs to be used?

Thanks!

Pain near the back right tooth

I have pain in my bottom right gums area and it looks like the gum is so swollen that it grew over the corner a little. Hurts when I swallow and chew on that side. What do you think this is? Should I go to the dentist? Thank you for the help!

I am 22yrs old, I have silver fillings. I also have 3 unremoved wisdom teeth but I’m not sure where exactly they are.

Inflamed and painful gums around one tooth

My gum is inflamed and painful only on top of one tooth. This has persisted for about three days now. What can be the cause of this? Is this something that will go away or should I see a dentist? I don’t have health insurance so I would have to save up.

drink and vape socially only on the weekends.

u/Sea-Cup-9346 — 17 hours ago

How should I go about taking care of these black triangles?

No smoking, alcohol here and there on weekends.

I had adult braces in my early 20's, ortho gave me the option of jaw surgery/braces or I could just do braces. Being young I obviously opted for the cheaper less painful option.

Idea was to remove both bottom canines to make room. They accidently removed a bottom incisor on the right along with a canine. The ortho took responsibility and offered treatment for half off.

Fast forward to my early 30's, I assume a combination of adult braces along with so much unintended movement has left me with recessed gums, needing 2 gum grafts so far.

My first question is how severe are these gaps? Will the massive size be difficult to correct? Is there any temporary suggestions while I figure it out/budget? I hate that I notice a whistle and saliva has affected my speech.

Second, I assume to do it correctly this time, I have to get braces+surgery. Will I have to get braces again or is this possible to correct with Invisalign alone? Does Invisalign also utilize rubber band attachments? Ceramic braces in my 30's would be devastating.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
