My wife is getting a breast reduction this week and I am looking to put together a gift basket for her (nothing crazy, hoping to stay under $100 total). I was wondering if anyone had any fun and/or useful items they would have wanted while in recovery.
Just graduated law school and starting a job in a HCOL city at $95k base salary plus bonuses (usually around $10k).
Thanks to a scholarship and a very frugal lifestyle, I only accumulated about $50k in student loans with interest rates hovering around 7-8%. I am 27, unmarried, no other debts, no kids any time soon. I have a fully funded emergency fund but zero retirement savings.
I am wondering how I should prioritize paying off my debt vs. playing catch up via my investing. I am aware of the dangers of lifestyle creep but am confident I can limit its impact (for example: just re-signed at my tiny studio apartment). I’m also aware that student debt is considered low priority, but the interest rates make it seem debatable at the very least. Curious to hear the thoughts of other lawyers, but also the sub generally as well.
