I've been making videos for over a year (almost 2) and nothing has worked that well. I decided to start over, curating the best (64) videos I had, re-editing, repackaging and posting them daily. Since I've never seen a place where I could view a channels full stats (not just the good stuff), and because I know myself: I get antsy, I change titles like every 2 days if a video isn't taking off, etc - I spent the past 2 days posting, but also building my own public youtube analytics.

I don't know if others want the same thing -- I've always wanted to see the full analytics of other channels, wanted to be able to drop my whole channel in Claude and ask it to find patterns, issues, etc - but if there are, here's my contribution. it 'should' update every day after downloading the latest day's repots.

It's totally anonymous because I want real numbers -- I don't want people checking out the channel, judging the titles/thumbnails/etc -- it's just data.

Let me know if you find it helpful. The problem right now is it's done -- so now i need to find something else to do to keep myself busy...

TL;DR: I wish there were more people that would share their full, unpolished analyrics from the start so we could all see the patterns in our own channels, know if what's happening is "normal".

I hate that no matter how good you think your videos are, all you can see are your own stats.

You can't compare to anyone else. And when creators DO share, it's always how "this video blew up out of nowhere," "I changed my thumbnail and it all took off." Cool. Doesn't help. The same thing never works for me.

So I decided to say F*** it and share mine for anyone who cares as I go. I started pulling all my analytics into a database every morning, built a dashboard with it, and now it's public so anyone can look. I'm 20 videos in, posting daily, and so far not doing much (under 1000 views combined). But every metric is there if you want something to compare your own against.

A few things from the past 3 weeks that surprised me:

  • 90% of my views are from Suggested. Browse / Homepage is 10%. Past channels of mine were Browse-driven, so this is new and I don't love it.
  • 68% of my views are from the UAE. I'm in Canada. Target audience is CA/US/UK/AU. I have no idea what's happening and wish I could change it.
  • One of my videos peaked on Day 9. Not Day 1, not Day 3. The "if it doesn't break in 48 hours it's dead" rule isn't holding here.
  • Retention across the 20 videos ranges from 6.5% to 40.7%. It's even crazier when you look at UAE/India (high impressions, low CTR and terrible single digit AVD) versus US/UK. Those are way better, but barely getting any impresisons.

Why I'm doing this

Two reasons.

  1. I've always wanted to see what another creator's full analytics actually looked like, and you literally cannot find that anywhere.
  2. my worst habit on past channels was tweaking. Title changes on litterally every video at least once a week if not more. If someting didn't work in 1-2 days, I'd change everything which meant I'd never know what was happening, if I was maybe right/better at the start. So, to fix that, I needed something to obsess over that wasn't my actual videos this time around. This is what I came up with instead.

The experiment (if you still care)

  • Posting every day, 7 days a week.
  • This isn't my first channel either. So, this time, I went through 100+ videos I'd made over the years, deleted all the old channels, re-edited and re-packaged the best 64 to start fresh on this channel. They are all 'evergreen'.
  • No tags. No channel keywords. No hashtags. No external promotion. Just posting and watching what the algorithm does.
  • Nothing changes after a video goes live. No title edits, no thumbnail swaps, no description tweaks. That's the only rule.
  • The dashboard is anonymized on purpose. I don't want anyone clicking through to judge my titles or sub out of pity. The point is the data, not me.

I don't know if this is actually useful to anyone, but I made it, and it's the type of thing I've always wished I had, so if it helps even one person, worth it.

you can type it: "open channel stats" (one word, normal dot then com ending).
