30 days in, 0 users - honest lessons from marketing a Shopify inventory tool
I've been building an AI-powered inventory management tool for Shopify sellers for the past few months. Marketing it for 30 days straight now. Here's what actually happened:
- Cold emailed 24 small stores. 0 replies. Wrong audience — stores with 10-20 products don't feel inventory pain.
- Instagram DMs got 3 replies on day one, then my account got throttled. Channel burned.
- Shopify Community flagged my account 3 times. Even helpful replies got me silenced.
- Reddit has been the only channel where being genuinely helpful leads to real conversations.
- SEO is slow but working. My blog posts are starting to show up in Google for "shopify inventory management" keywords.
- The hardest lesson: building is the easy part. Getting anyone to care is the real product.
Still at zero users. But strangers are finding the product through Google now, and I'm having real conversations with people who have the exact problem I built for.
If you run a Shopify store with 50+ products and deal with inventory headaches, I'd love honest feedback. Free access, no time limit. DM me.
