Half marathon hydration strategy

Currently training for my second half marathon in October. I learned from my first one that I need a better strategy for water. I brought a little handheld bottle and stopped at water stations when the bottle ran out. While I’m so thankful for the water stations, I found it so difficult to drink out of the little paper cups that they give out while also trying to keep my pace 😆.

So I’m curious, how do you plan your hydration for races?

Sleeve for handheld water bottle?

I have an amphipod bottle that I love but I have a difficult time with the feeling of the bottle when my hand sweats or if I freeze it and the bottle gets wet. Does anyone know if they make sleeves for these bottles instead of having to buy a whole new bottle with the neoprene thing on it? Or maybe ways you’ve been able to get around this? Thank you!

Feeling lost and defeated. Any advice or solidarity is welcomed.

I don't know what I'm looking for... support? Advice? Anyway.

I'm a 40 year old mom of 3. I graduated with my Associates in Health Sciences last year, however I've been applying to several RN programs for the better part of two years and I keep getting rejected. I'm in Los Angeles, and I'm aware that the area is VERY competitive, but I really had no idea just HOW competitive. I just don't know what to do anymore.

I've applied to: Glendale Community College, Pasadena Community, East Los Angeles, Cerritos Community, Rio Hondo, Mt. SAC, Long Beach Community. I even applied to Pasadena's CNA program and have not made it into that either. I got As and Bs in my science courses, my TEAS could be higher but it's decent (76.7). My overall GPA is 3.67.

I'm willing to try to go the private route. I looked into West Coast University, which is ridiculously expensive and they're only "helpful" up to the point of financing and then you're pretty much on your own. I went through the process of talking through financing with them and it just didn't feel right.

Am I doomed? Is there something else that I should be doing that I'm missing? Other places I should be applying (private or community)? I can't move out of state, I have children to think of, so that's out of the question. I feel like i've been on the application hamster wheel for so long with no results.

Removing odor from soft flask

I saw a “hack” somewhere on Reddit that suggested putting your clean soft flask in the freezer will help eliminate odors. I did that and now it has a horrible freezer burn taste 😫. Anyone know how to actually get smells/tastes out of these things?

Applying to Azusa Pacific without prior healthcare experience

Hello, I'm hoping to get some insight here. I've been applying to community college nursing programs to no avail and now considering the private route. I'm looking into APU and see that they ask for you to submit a resume of any volunteer or work experience you have. I don't have any experience and I'm wondering if that will keep me from being admitted to their nursing program. I do have a good GPA overall (3.67) and got As and Bs in my sciences. Any help would be great!

First half marathon!

I started running seriously in August of last year with a goal of running a half marathon when I turned 40. Those last two miles were killer but I did it and so proud of myself 🥹

Flipbelt + 250ml soft flask

I’m looking around for a belt that can possibly hold a soft flask. I’m running my first half marathon this weekend and although I’ve been using a vest while training, it hasn’t been my favorite. My back gets suuuuuper sweaty and it just feels like I’m carrying so much stuff. I got a cheap belt on Amazon (Waterfly) and although it can seemingly hold a soft flask bottle, it bounces horribly. I’m really looking at a Flipbelt. Ideally I’d like to be able to hold my phone, the soft flask, and 4-5 gels. Has anyone tried a flip belt with a soft flask? Thoughts? ◡̈

My new treadmill is not compatible with the Runna app and I’m wondering how you track your workout in this instance. Do you have to manually tick the speed up/down as you’re running? At the end of my run it asked for an average speed, which I thought was strange. Am I doing something wrong or is it just this clunky of an experience?
