I’m thinking about signing up for recreational dodgeball this fall, but I’m not sure what to expect.

For anyone who’s played it before: how was your experience? Was it beginner-friendly, and what was the overall atmosphere like?
Also, did you enjoy it / would you recommend it?

I’ll be moving into Annex this fall, and I was wondering if there’s anything I should know about living there. Any tips, things you liked/disliked, or anything you wish you had known before moving in?

Also, I’ll be in a studio, but I can’t seem to find any photos or a floor plan that gives me a good idea of what it actually looks like. If anyone has pictures or could describe the layout, I’d really appreciate it!

I was looking at the Welcome Week schedule on the uni website, and I’m a bit confused.

Is Welcome Week different from 101 Week? I noticed some Welcome Week events say they’re open to “all students.” Does that mean all uOttawa students, or just all new students?

I’m currently living in residence, and my move-out is August 31. I’ll be moving into a different residence, but my move-in date isn’t until September 4.

I already contacted Housing to ask if I could move into earlier, but unfortunately they said it’s not possible.

I’m a bit lost on what to do during those 4 days. Should I move everything out on the 31st, or is it better to leave earlier? More importantly, what do people usually do with all their belongings? Does the university offer any temporary storage between residence contracts, or do most people rent a storage unit?

If anyone has been in the same situation, I’d really appreciate hearing what you did, thanks!

Est-ce que vous recommanderiez une auberge de jeunesse ou un hôtel ? Si vous avez déjà séjourné dans une auberge à Québec, j’aimerais beaucoup avoir votre avis.

Aussi, si vous avez des recommandations de lieux à visiter, de librairies, de cafés ou de restaurants, je suis preneuse! Je pense loger près de la Gare du Palais ou du Vieux-Québec.

I started uni in winter, so this September will be my 1st time experiencing the start of fall semester, even though I’ll be going into 2nd year.

Are there any specific events or activities at the beginning of the year that are open to all students? I’m mainly looking for opportunities to meet people and get more involved on campus.

This might be a weird question, but I’ve been at uOttawa for about 6 months now (started 1st year in winter term), and I’ve noticed that when I mention I’m in Accounting, I’ve occasionally gotten reactions like “Oh…Telfer?” (not in a bad way, just a bit of reaction I’ve noticed)

It’s only happened a few times, and most interactions have been completely normal, but it got me wondering: are there any running jokes, stereotypes, or “lore” about Telfer students and/or the different faculties at uOttawa that I should know about?

I’m genuinely just curious. If this isn’t an appropriate question for the subreddit, I’ll happily delete the post.

I know it’s still early since it’s only May, but I’m thinking about getting more involved next school year.

I started university in the winter term, so I missed a lot of the usual first-year experience. Going into second year, I’d like to join some clubs this September, but realistically, how many do people manage while balancing classes?

Is one “professional” club + one fun/social club usually manageable?

Also, I’m open to fun/social club recommendations :)
