Comprar Tesla novo?

Severe cystic hygroma + early hydrops + fixed wrists, but normal trisomy testing – any similar cases?

My wife and I are looking for experiences from parents who had a similar prenatal diagnosis and what the eventual outcome was.

Maternal age: 32 years old.

At 10+4 weeks, an increased nuchal translucency was suspected. At the first-trimester scan, the NT measured around 6.6 mm. The sonographer also noted dilated jugular lymphatic sacs and raised the possibility that part of the increased NT/hygroma could be related to this.

We underwent CVS. Rapid testing for Trisomy 21, 18 and 13 came back normal. The fetus is male.

Unfortunately, a follow-up scan at around 16 weeks showed progression of the findings:

- Severe septated cystic hygroma

- Nuchal fold measuring 13.1 mm

- Mild generalized edema

- Mild bilateral pleural effusion

- Findings suggestive of early hydrops

- Reduced fetal movements, especially involving the upper body

- Bilateral fixed flexion of the wrists

- Suspicion of right clubfoot

The report also stated that:

- Brain anatomy appeared normal for gestational age

- Face appeared normal

- Spine appeared normal

- Four-chamber heart view was normal

- Great vessels appeared normal

- Stomach, bowel, kidneys and bladder appeared normal

- Fetal growth was appropriate

The specialists are very concerned and have discussed the possibility of pregnancy termination due to the combination of findings and the high likelihood of an underlying condition, despite the normal trisomy results.

We are currently waiting for additional genetic testing results (microarray and further studies) and are seeking a second opinion next week before making any final decisions.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone experienced a similar combination of severe cystic hygroma, edema/early hydrops, fixed wrists, reduced movements and possible clubfoot with normal trisomy testing?

  2. Was a genetic diagnosis eventually found? If so, what was it?

  3. Did anyone have findings such as fixed wrists or suspected clubfoot that later improved or turned out to be less severe than initially thought?

  4. If you had a similar case, what was the eventual outcome?

We understand that every case is different. We are simply trying to learn from families and professionals who may have encountered something similar.

Thank you.
