Seeking Advice

Hi guys. So, I'm 25 and have had light scoliosis my whole life, but was always athletic and moving a lot until I hit a massive depression around 23. I spent about a year bedrotting a lot and gained some weight. Afterwards I got back into yoga and PT, spent time strengthening my core, lower back, opening shoulders & chest etc. I carry weight pretty interestingly - I've always had a lot of muscle so I weigh 200 lbs but look more like 165. But Im quite dense regardless. I try to sleep on my back with no pillow because I want to reduce my neckhump, but often times end up in fetal position with a pillow between my knees.

I moved into a new apartment and the mattress I have now (got rid of my old one) is so bad and I have terrible lower back pain, in the lower right area that I've always had. I spent a weekend sick so I was laying in bed and the pain I'm now is crazy and reminds me of the back pain I had just before starting physical therapy before.

What kind of mattress should i get? Im 25 and live in NYC so I really don't have a big budget. I know a nice mattress is something you should spend a lot on, and I totally would if I had the money but I need at least a temporary solution. Any suggestions?
