Hi all,

I will be finishing up my masters program next year so this is me thinking ahead! Where in Cali do you think it would be easier to land a job as an elementary teacher? I know multiple subjects/ high school market is pretty oversaturated. I'm currently in SF and would love to stay here/ work nearby. I would be open to moving south towards monterey/ carmel? I'm also not super familiar as I'm from the midwest and it's pretty easy to land a job there lol. so that also might be a very real possibility given the state edu is in right now.

I know this is basically every post on this sub, but holy shit people were not exaggerating when they said housing in SF is hard

I'm moving from the Midwest and starting grad school in August so I was hoping to move in around July so I could get settled, learn the city, figure out my commute, etc., but I'm honestly at a loss!

I've been apartment hunting for almost two months with two other girls. We apply basically immediately, have solid incomes, and still get rejected over and over. I even emailed one landlord who rejected us asking what we could do differently, and he basically said it's just insanely competitive right now and there are a lot of high-income applicants like bruh

I've also tried finding a room in an existing house/lease, but those seem just as competitive. I'll see a post that's been up for 30 minutes and there are already 20+ comments. I was actually talking to one group and thought it was going well, but they needed to discuss things with the other roommates and its been silent.

At this point I feel like I've tried Zillow, Craigslist, apartments. com Facebook groups, room rentals, pretty much everything.

Am I missing something? Are there any tricks, resources, or strategies that helped you find housing? Is it worth hiring a realtor/rental agent, or is that just throwing money at the problem?

Any advice would be appreciated because I'm starting to feel a little defeated.

i am posting to see if there is any roommate/ apartment advice from someone trying to move from out of state. im 24f looking for a few roommates in lower haight, sunset, or richmond area! trying to keep it cheap too lol!
