Thank you San Francisco!

I posted on here about two weeks ago asking about pride weekend, specifically if it would be OK for an older trans person to present fem outside of pride context. Well, I am happy to say that I spent a whole week in the bay area and never wore 'male' cloting the entire time.. We went everywhere, restaurants, museums, shopping, walking tours, etc,etc,etc.. and all the while I wore nothing but skirts and dresses the entiere time. It was so nice to just live as I want to and dress as I want to and not have to worry one bit about the judgement of others. We had a great vacation and I never felt more comfortable in my own skin.. So thank you SF! I will be back some day.

Simple Giants Tee

Looking for an orange tee, no player number or name, just a modest ‘San Francisco Giants’ or ‘SF Giants’ across the chest. Under $50. The dugout store has simple tees but in black. Thanks.

PSA: Emporium is underrated for World Cup matches

I’ve watched some World Cup matches at Emporium and think it doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Big venue, 50’ screen, nice audio, and you can reserve a table and bring your own food or have it delivered.

I’ve got friends together to watch there and had an awesome time.

I generally watch soccer matches (champions league, premier league) at the usual spots (Kezar, Mad Dog), but I know it’d be near impossible to get a larger group there without showing up an hour or more in advance for US games. I’ve turned towards Emporium, and it’s been great. Especially for casual fans that won’t show up that early.

I don’t work there. Just want to support a great space and the World Cup watching experience in SF for the casual audience since the city pretty much dropped the ball.

Creepy men at nightclubs

I know there are creepy men everywhere, but curious if some clubs are more likely to have creepers? Had a great time last night at bella and audio with my gf and her best friend. I usually don't really pay attention or think about who's around me at shows because I get in the zone and am more focused on the music/dancing. However, last night we started the night at Bella and had an incredible time, but there were several dudes that gave me borderline predatory vibes. There were multiple times where I had to physically put myself between my girlfriend or her friend and some guy(s) that couldn't take a hint for the 5th time. We had to move spots a bunch just to avoid them.

We went to Audio after where we encountered fewer creeps overall, but 2 of them were the worst and followed us around when we'd move to avoid them coming right up to us and awkwardly fake dance while just staring like psychopaths.

It isn't going to stop us from going to shows at clubs in the city. Just curious of there are any spots that are creeper strongholds so I can weigh that in my future desicions. Sorry to all women/people that have to deal with this.

What ISN'T in San Francisco?

Hello! I've been living in San Francisco for a few years. I'm visiting places outside of SF and I realized that we don't have a Wal-Mart! What other places do you miss when you moved into the city? I personally miss Wendy's, although it saves me a lot of money not eating there.

SF History Book Recs

I have loved SF since I set foot there for the first time 25 years ago. I am not local but travel there a handful of times each year. These days, I find myself almost “homesick” when I haven’t visited in a couple months.

I’d love to better understand the connection I feel with the city. Is there a book about SF’s history that anyone would recommend?

Edit: Thank you all so much for all of the recommendations. I have made a list of all the recommendations from this sub and the other sub I posted in. :)

Potrero Hill recs- Coffee, Brunch, Sushi, etc..

I'm visiting the Bay for the first time in more than a decade, staying in Potrero Hill for a few days (Thursday eve -Sunday aft).. looking for killer brunch, sushi and coffee spots in particular.. (edit: oh.. and breakfast burritos!) , or just your favorite meal, activity or walkable adventure to get up to in the area. Won't have a car. I assume the city is walkable, but I'm told it can be spotty depending on where you want to go.

Anecdotally.. my friend living in India Basin says she wouldn't suggest walking to her from Potrero, which surprised me a little...

Anyone have experience being in Spinsters of San Francisco?

I was scrolling on Instagram reels and saw a post from a group called Spinsters of San Francisco pop up on my feed. It looks like a women's only group - I was curious if anyone has experience being in this group or know anyone who was in it?

EDIT: Just got a few DMs of women warning me about the organization. I'm glad I posted here!

What non-bar place can I catch the Spain / Portugal game tomorrow?

Honestly, can’t stand bars, but also don’t wanna watch at home alone. What’s a café or slightly lower key place to watch the game? And any of the games moving forward TBH. Ideally in Park Heights in Richmond or Fillmore area. Thanks in advance!

Urgent: need Spanish interpreter tomorrow 7:30 AM PT for Peruvian police witness testimony (Google Meet, ~90 min)

Hi all, I'm reaching out for help with a time-sensitive situation.

Nine months ago, I identified evidence of illegal looting at a potential archaeological site in the Cusco/Madre de Dios border region of Peru using publicly available satellite imagery and reported it to Peruvian authorities. To my surprise, the Peruvian prosecutor's office opened a formal criminal investigation, and I've been asked to give witness testimony (declaración testimonial) via Google Meet to the Policía Nacional del Perú, Comisaría de Ocongate.

The session is tomorrow, Monday, July 6, at 9:30 AM Peru time = 7:30 AM Pacific. Expected duration: 60-90 minutes. Consecutive interpretation (I speak, pause, you translate; officer speaks, pause, you translate for me).

I don't speak Spanish. The officer has already accommodated one postponement to let me arrange an interpreter, so canceling again isn't an option.

I've tried professional interpreter services, and the cost ($200-400+) is beyond what I can cover right now. I'm looking for either:

A bilingual Spanish/English speaker with any legal, medical, or professional interpretation experience willing to help for a low fee or as a volunteer

A recommendation to a low-cost interpretation service I haven't tried

Anyone with contacts at the Peruvian Consulate in San Francisco (SF General Consulate) who could help me reach their legal assistance section on short notice

I'm in Sacramento. Happy to Venmo a fair thank-you within what I can manage, provide a written thank-you letter, or connect the interpreter with the case documents in advance so they understand the context.

The proceeding is legitimate; I have the official citation document (Citación Policial N° 02-2026, Carpeta Fiscal N° 128-2026) from the Fiscalía Provincial Penal de Quispicanchi. Happy to share with anyone considering helping.

DMs open. Thank you.

This is not a self-promotion! Not sure why Reddit is acting like this is.

apartment hallway smells strongly like urine

just got access to a new SF apartment and noticed a strong urine-like odor in the shared hallway near my unit. The smell also seems to be entering my unit.
I’m not sure if it’s coming from a shared hallway bathroom, carpet/flooring, plumbing, baseboards, or something else.

Before I contact the property manager, what’s the best way to document this and ask for remediation without getting brushed off?

Navigating tipping scenarios in the US

Hi, I'm visiting SF this week for a business trip. This is my first time in the US, I am from an Asian country. Could you please guide me on what to do / not do while in SF - specially around the tipping culture, as I don't want to come across as someone who is inconsiderate.

  1. I will be staying in a high-end 4 star hotel in Mission Bay area. Who all should be tipped at the hotel and how much?
  2. How much do I need to tip at restaurants?
  3. Do I need to tip for takeaways?
  4. Do I need to tip at coffee shops or is it only at restaurants where you go for lunch / dinner that you are expected to tip?
  5. Do I need to tip Uber drivers?
  6. What about stores like Apple, Best Buy, Super Markets - are tips expected there?

As you can see I'm pretty stressed about this tipping culture and don't want to make a faux pas while I am there!

Also, any general advise that you can share with a first time visitor would be very useful. Want to be on the right side of the law while I am there.

Taxidermy for a Cat

So… yeah. There’s a sick cat who probably won’t make it to the end of the year.

They wish to have it taxidermied. No car and cannot drive so it has to be in SF.

Are there any options? If there’s truly none here they can try and plan to take a vacation to bus it somewhere close by.

Thank you for reading.
