Maxi’s Kitchen (tarnished) gold

Aside: Firstly, I am cracking up that HBH has an entire moderator rule dedicted to her in this sub 🤪

My (plant-based) beef is with Maxi’s Kitchen. Can someone please help her expand her vocabulary now that “she’s really beginning to feel comfortable with herself” now that she got a cookbook released?

My real question is what does she have against the letter “L” - listen to her say words like “golden” … she sounds like an Asian auntie but the thing is, girlfriend is pure American. I’m pretty sure her Asian mom even doesnt skip those “L”s!

Woman is the epitome of cringe!

Unique and/or fun eats eats around 16th & Geary

Hello! I need to be in the 16th & Geary area and am wondering if there are any unique and/or excellent budget eats that are must-try’s? Trying to take advantage of being in an area I rarely frequent! Thank you for any good tips!

Free compost in city

hi!

1/ anyone know of good options for free compost in SF? i used to go to the DPW/SF Parks & Rec often in Glen Park, long lines with the greater Bay Area Asian community, etc. I dont believe they are doing those anymore. There is something on monthly Tuesdays out in the Sunset but it doesnt work for me.

2/ Just tried out Bayview Greenwaste. Compost is made from tree cuttings and not sure what else. It is MUCH lighter in weight and I believe MUST be combined witb soil else too hot: The DPW compost was much heavier and more like rich fertilizer. Do I have that correct?

Novice city container gardener here! All guidance appreciated!

Hello! I love me some local small business support…but I am curious about others’ experience with Thatchers Popcorn (made in Dogpatch, I believe). Over the last few years, I’ve been at a variety of events where bags of Thatchers are available to grab. Even met the owner randomly at a party in Hillsborough once - lovely guy.

I’ve probably had at least 10 bags across a wide variety of flavors…and each and every bag has been stale in some way - the popcorn itself is stale and/or the oil is rancid-ish. I’ve never gotten sick, I’ve never not finished the whole bag…and I don’t ever see myself not reaching for a bag of popcorn at the ready. That’s on me, I get it, so don’t come at me with your sagely advice on how I can manage the situation. Well aware of my options and choices for which I take full accountability :-)

Am just curious about others’ experience with this brand, so hopefully we can stick with that? Please and thank you.

This post was removed from the cancer subreddit so trying here…

My friend is a few sessions into his Stage 4 Pancreatic chemo journey. So far, the worst of his side effects is tingly fingers and feet and cold sensitivity, all projected to get worse over time. Not necessarily painful, just something he has to deal with.

I’m looking for suggestions on what I can buy him to help alleviate this. I see gloves/socks on Amazon but they dont seem all that amazing? Foot massager? Would love any advice. Please and thank you 🙏🏽

Hello!

I am in Dogpatch and need to go to Upper Noe to meet friends for dinner. Need to source some really good shrimp or shrimp & pork dumplings or gyoza.

Ideally, one packet they can freeze later (husband is in chemo-ville 😢) and one ready to eat (as accompaniment to dry ramen) this evening. Or, all to be boiled, that’s fine, too.

Need superb quality…hoping not to trek to Sunset, but happy to do if that’s the best option!

Thanks for any recs ASAP

UPDATE: Changing up the request 🤪🤪🤪 How about I just bring 8 (or so) super yums shrimp gyoza or some other fluffy excellent dumpling to the game, sounds like their freezer is full anyway.
