Chipotle is the perfect restaurant to automate

I’m a long time Chipotle customer. I love the ingredients and the ability to find good quality, healthy and relatively cheap food on the go. The problem is consistency and accuracy.

Some of you may love your local Chipotle and they manage to get your order right each time. I would say 20 percent of the time I pickup my order and it is 100 percent correct. Missing ingredients, wrong ingredients or someone else’s order in my bag are common place. The timing is also way off sometimes too.

There is nothing special to me about how the employees at my local store make the bowl and I would gladly take a robot made meal with the same amount and correct ingredients over and personal relationship with a specific person on the line. I also usually order 3 or more meals at a time so ordering online is much simpler than going through the line and trying to get each one on the fly correct.

With this consistency I would likely eat there 3-4x more a week, right now the gamble just isn’t worth it. I’m curious how others feel about this. Do you have this problem? Would you eat there more? Do you hate the idea of automation?

Chipotle Catering no longer allows rewards points

Hey everyone, I just wanted to see what everyone’s experience has been with a new platform for catering orders. Usually when I do a catering order it’s attached to my personal account and I’m able to see the reward redemption but it looks like now it’s making me check out as a guest. Obviously frustrating when you’re spending $600 and you’re not able to see any rewards going into your account. I tried chatting with them and calling them, but no luck anyone have any experience?

It worked!!!!

I have seen some of y’all post photos of editing the name on the “made for” line to variations of “make it fat plz”. So I tried it out and made mine “hook it up please” and tried it at one of my local Chipotles. To my surprise, it worked! When the lady handed me my bag at the mobile order station, she smiled and said “I hooked up your burrito!” And she sure did! YMMV.

Stale chips

When did the chips get so bad? It seems like every 2 outta 3 times I go there the chips taste like shit. How hard is it to make them fresh ?

Double chicken vs side of chicken

Mobile order, the double chicken portion has the same amount or maybe less chicken than the side order. I might try to order two chicken sides next time for the same price. Doordash quickly sent a resolution

Fajita portions

I have a question regarding the portion of fajita veggies, I know some people have already stated the fact that the line is supposed to skip asking whether we want fajita veggies or not, which is cool. I don’t mind going back and asking for some. Now the question is, are y’all supposed to be very stingy with it cause now the other day I asked for some of the veggies and this guy gave me a very tiny portion. Then when I asked for more, he literally just picked out two pieces of sliced bell peppers, two pieces and I’m not even exaggerating on this. Now when he passed it off to the salsa guy or whatever the term is, I asked for more and he did the same thing.

Note, this was not during peak, and nor was there a lack of fajita veggies that was actually the container was actually pretty filled up.

Will Chipotle die if they focus on operational cost (like inventory) versus customer same store sales / satisfication?

Operational cost focus causes the skimping issue on cheap items such as $1/pound chicken thigh when customer is paying $12 for that $0.25 chicken portion! Next will be cutting fresh items , etc.

If they always gave a little extra , where customer feels good deal, they will keep coming back, same store sales is USUALLY most important metric, but I don't see managers having this as a KPI which is a organization failure. Thoughts?

question

so this chipotle by my house is always showing love to me when i come, never skimping on the chicken or anything.

i wanna give them some candy from my job (i work at a 5 ⭐️ hotel) to show them i appreciate what they do.

do i just hand it to the cashier and say it’s for yall or how would they appreciate that?

Chipotle workers rushing customers to order is my biggest pet peeve about this place

The main issues I always see about Chipotle are portion sizes… I have a bigger issue as my portions are usually amazing and always have good food experiences.

I understand when there is a long lineup and the workers want to get through the line quickly.. but bro

0 people behind me, just me in line.

They’re already asking “white or brown? black or pinto? protein?” before I’ve even answered the first question. Then they skip the fajita veggies every single time so I have to stop them and ask them to go back.

At that point I stop trying to keep up and answer at my own pace 😭 Like if you’re going to make me feel rushed when there’s literally nobody waiting, I’m taking my sweet ass time. I swear customer service at places like chick fil a really do make all the difference. Chipotle gotta step up

Edit: Apparently asking for decent customer service strikes a nerve with some 😂✌🏽

This was a fun surprise

Just love black bean tacos, 4x pepper told me this was not valid for compensation.

edit: no fajita veggies no guac and didn’t bother to tell me when I picked it up.

Didn’t even have to pay extra..

For the nose ring I found in my burrito. 🤢 notified customer service through their chat bot. Tried to call the store because I picked up the order to go but their phone is not working.

Update: called 1-800 number to file a complaint. Just went to the location to return the item. Manager was very apologetic and took all of my info to send a copy of the incident report (I requested). Offered to remake the order… no thank you.
Waiting to hear from corporate. Planning to call the health department tomorrow.
