How 36,000 Workers Run Disneyland Like a Small City (Wall Street Journal)

Kind of a puff piece, but still interesting seeing some back of house info on how Disneyland is run. Love the story of the man going to Disneyland to ride his wife's favorite ride on the anniversary of her passing.

I wish they had focused even a tiny bit on what a challenging job being a public-facing cast member can be.

Confirming what I need to replace the seat on my old 2008 Brompton

Hi folks, I did a search and couldn't find a direct answer to this question anywhere.... I have a 2008 S-type Brompton and the saddle finally bit the dust.

It sounds like to replace it I need both a new saddle and a pentaclip? So I'm out at least $100 USD? I'm not employed right now, so looking for the cheapest option to fix. Thanks for any advice!

My Top Ten Most Effed Up DSN Episodes

I finally finished watching all of DSN (after having avoided it for decades) in order to complete my watch of all the Star Trek media. And yes, it’s one of the best sci fi series ever in the history of television. That said, I’m pretty rocked by what I saw – war crimes, suicide, massacres and more.

Here’s my personal list of the ten most effed up DSN episodes:

S3.E11 and E12 ∙ “Past Tense”: Seeing the government just merc a bunch of rebels was honestly scarring. I can’t believe this was on broadcast TV.

S4.E14 ∙ “Sons of Mogh”: The resolution of this one was to wipe the memory of his brother so he wouldn’t need to kill himself. WTH.

S4.E18 ∙ “Hard Time”: Perhaps the roughest of the “O’Brian must suffer” stories. How he wasn’t just totally useless as a crew member after this is hard to swallow.

S5.E13 ∙ “For the Uniform”: Sisko commits a war crime, gassing an entire colony, to get the upper hand on the Maquis.

S5.E22 ∙ “Children of Time”: Love-obsessed Odo dooms thousands of people to save Kira. Woah.

S5.E24 ∙ “Empok Nor”: The horrific Redshirting of many crew members, at the hands of Garak! So creepy.

S6.E2 ∙ “Rocks and Shoals”: A military massacre and a public suicide. Another one I can’t believe was on TV!

S6.E19 ∙ “In the Pale Moonlight”: Sisko allows several horrible acts to be committed to bring the Romulans to their side of the war. One of the best Garak episodes.

S7.E8 ∙ “The Siege of AR-558”: This one kind of broke me. Definite “Platoon” vibes from this very tense battle.

S7.E23 ∙ “Extreme Measures”: Sisko allows Bashir to torture Sloane to find a cure for Odo’s disease.

Did I miss any episodes that you thought were particularly horrific?

Quaker meditation while walking a labyrinth?

Outdoor labyrinth in a public park in San Francisco

Hi Friends. Have any of you used labyrinths as part of your personal or corporate meditation practice? I’ve recently discovered that walking a labyrinth (or tracing a finger labyrinth) has helped me to center down and experience the Inner Light in ways that I had not anticipated.

I’ve always been a peripatetic person, often needing to pace around the room when trying to work through a problem or explore different options. So walking while meditating felt pretty natural. And fortunately I live close to several publicly accessible labyrinths.

Having a physical path to follow, a center to aim for, and a place to return to the “real world” has helped me to feel more at peace and even uncover answers to issues that have been bothering me. If you have never walked a labyrinth before, I highly encourage you to check it out. And if you have, I would be curious what your experience was.

You can find a labyrinth near you by going to https://labyrinthlocator.org/ .
