Lamplight Lounge

Lamplight Lounge

Came here for restaurant recs and noticed a bunch of posts about the el pastor pork chop special. You guys didn’t fail me in the slightest. Most delicious meal I’ve had in a while! I could hear the guy at the table behind me raving about it as well. The Caesar Brussels sprouts were our second favorite. Thanks sub! 🫶

Pool side is where you can find me 😎☀️⛱️🩳🏊‍♂️

Staycation has been amazing so far. Sunday we checked in at Pixar place with a pool terrace room. Then Monday we checked in at the Disneyland hotel ( villas ). I’ve been pool side majority of our time here other than Monday. We did a long full day at the parks !

This art hangs in the entrance of one of the Main st. Restrooms. Someone told me that it’s concept artwork for the Happiest Millionaire.

Edit: talked to an Imagineer friend and he said it is a Sam McKim piece for the proposed Edison Square. I’ll stop spreading the Happiest Millionaire story- sorry!

Grand Californian

Anyone find the rooms insanely outdated for the price? I get that part of the luxury is the location and its heritage but for that price I’d expect better than the equivalent of a Holiday Inn shower.

found this today at the thrift shop

found this today and a bunch of disney VHS for free, wondering if this is anything rare or just a random tape

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland has added 12 new signs around the attraction, mostly in the queues, to warn guests that if they stand up during the ride they “will” be removed from the park. This clarifies language from earlier signs which said they “may” be removed from the park.

Can we stop with the meatloaf

Last year my family did the Premium dining for Fantasmic! and I had the Burnt Ends Pasta. I’ve been to Disneyland many times and this was the best thing I’ve ever tasted there. So good I would make sure we did the Premium Dining every year just for that. That year we also did the Dining for the Parade. That was in no way worth the price: not only do you eat at a different time then your parade seating (unlike Fantasmic!), but you only had one selection for food and it was the driest, blandest thing I’ve ever tasted: meatloaf.

This year we did Fantasmic! Dining again. Tragically my burnt ends pasta was not an option on the menu. But you know what was? MEATLOAF. I chose the caper pasta but it was not nearly as good. I don’t like calling for people to get fired, but to whomever keeps choosing meatloaf for dining options: you are never getting a cast complement from me.

Halloween Spirit Jersey is so much fun this year

I like that this one is subtle and not too loud.
Love the little characters on it as well. Right mix of Halloween and Disney charm.

Horrible VIP Tour Guide

Before I even get started, I am 100% aware that going on a VIP tour is a once-in-a-lifetime and expensive experience. A formal complaint was submitted by the person that reserved the tour as they are the only one with any power, so this is just purely for me to get off my chest.

My fiance and I were invited to make a complete group with a couple of our friends that had put a tour together, and it happened to coincide with my birthday, so we made a weekend out of it.

We were told by our Disney travel agent/friend that booked the tour that due to D23 the "star" tour guides would be assigned to high profile guests like celebrities, influencers, etc. but we weren't too worried about that. Unfortunately we were assigned the worst possible person for our group - a literal drill-sergeant who absolutely ruined our 7 hour tour.

She started off by letting us know that she didn't make commission off of VIP sales merchandise so she "didn't care" if we got anything - weird. After riding Soarin', she asked if there was anything else people wanted to do during the tour - I asked if she could point out cast members that did pin trivia and she told me that would be a "waste of my time with her". She expressed frustration when my fiance wanted a coffee on the walk to the next ride and made me (I've never been to DCA) run across the park to get him one so as to not hold up the group. She refused to stop for snacks included in our tour price unless multiple people wanted one, and didn't even tell us waters were included until after 2 of us had purchased them. She came across as annoyed and bothered whenever we wanted something outside of being marched off to the next queue.

We got minimal trivia, she didn't want to hold anyone's drinks while we rode a ride, she walked ahead of us the entire time, and I truly don't think we laughed for 7 hours. I was in tears halfway through the day because she rushed us getting a snack right into a ride queue and I was told to scarf it (we never stopped for lunch!). I ended up choosing to leave the queue and missed out on Runaway Railroad just to eat my food in peace.

Kat, if you ever read this, you ruined 10 peoples' first and probably only tour experience with your awful, magic-free attitude and lack of desire to connect with the group in any way. We are not a group of wealthy people who can afford to do something like this again. I hope your pillow is always warm.

Shout out to a great cast member. Ummm former cast member.

I just found out that our VIP Tour Guide, Jodi, was involuntarily let go from the Disneyland Resort.

Our group had Jodi as our guide for a day, and she was absolutely fantastic. She didn’t just do her job, she went above and beyond to make sure our entire group had an amazing experience. She was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making our day special.
There are certain Cast Members who remind you why Disneyland is such a special place, and Jodi was definitely one of them.

I don’t know all the circumstances surrounding her departure, so I’m not looking to speculate or get into the details. I just wanted to share our experience as guests. Jodi was outstanding, and the care and effort she put into our day did not go unnoticed.
It’s really disappointing to see someone who represents the very best of the Disneyland experience no longer be there.

Thank you, Jodi, for making our Disney day so memorable. I hope you know how much your guests appreciate you, and I hope whatever comes next is an even better chapter.

Character Portraits from California Adventure and Disneyland

This post has been a LONG time coming but I hit the year mark a few weeks back of doing these, so I thought it was finally a good time. In July of 2025, I started drawing portraits for the characters at Disneyland and DCA - mostly at Avengers Campus, but a few others are snuck in there as well and I've been branching out more lately. This was meant to be a two week do 8 portraits and be done (which was insane in itself looking back) but here we are 1 year later.

I've included some of my favorites below and a link to a gallery with all of them, sorted newest to oldest. This has been an incredibly rewarding way to get back into art after being in a slump for a good long while. It's nice to be able to clearly see the progress and to give back some of the joy that the parks and its CMs bring me.

I've drawn 72 to this day, and usually have a rotation of about 6-8 that I'm working on. I'd love to reach a hundred by the end of the year, but we'll see - I've slowed down a lot since starting to make these way more detailed lol.

When I'm done I give them to the characters. I usually draw both at home and in the parks in avengers campus. 🥰
