I sometimes laugh at the possibility that Aang just made this up on the spot just to get the entire group to lock in.

2 cards down... many more to go! :)
Here’s the source to the info as well https://x.com/paramountplusbr/status/2072447663774015765?s=46&t=yV9PkTZ9FKwQFzvDppZjSQ
How else do you explain the egg and subsequent dragon that Zuko rides in TLoK?
It took me a few rewatches to notice that there are a couple of instances of the GAang using each other's bending styles in their own bending. The most obvious one that I picked up on was Katara using Zuko's Breath of Fire to unfreeze herself. I love that it wasn't just Aang learning from his teachers, but all of them learning from each other. Are there any other examples that anyone else has noticed?
I’m jot here to get into the discussion about Azula’s appearance and whether or not it matches the show enough, I for my part think the actress played the part well and was a good choice for the role, the real issue with live action Azula however is the writing.
Live Action Azula lacks all the cunning of her original counterpart and the scheme to take Ba Sing Se my just be one of the dumbest plots ever conceived by a fictional character. Genuinely what was her plan to take Ba Sing Se? First of all she should’ve just gotten caught at the outer wall, the reason they could infiltrate Ba Sing Se in the show is that nobody there knew what the Kyoshi warriors looked like, but in the live action version, Azula’s group are greeted at the perimeter wall by the very officer who captured and is now employing the real Kyoshi warriors and so would have an accurate head count of who they were and what they looked like. But aside from that what was the idea here??? After getting in, she immediately proceeds to blow her cover by killing a Dai Lee agent, gets caught and I guess just hopes the person who processes her is the leader of the organisation. Which then once that happens, she instantly reveals all her cards to Long Feng and so gives up all her bargaining power in return for nothing? Long Feng even points out her blunders and then he still proceeds to fall for it??? In the original show this worked cause Long Feng had lost his power and standing with the King and so had something to gain by allying with Azula and even then was planning to double cross her, but here Long Feng is very much still in control, Azula has absolutely nothing to offer him AND he already has Azula, the princess and only heir of the nation that’s threatening to take his city in custody, along with the general who’s leading the army 😂. Long Feng is holding all the cards. The show never even plays the angle of him simply using Azula as a hostage to stop the fire nation from ever attacking. This is one of the worst schemes I’ve ever seen and yet somehow the narrative bends over backwards to make Azula come out on top.
so i was rewatching avatar and i had a thought. why did iroh create lightning redirection? like if you think about it the only reason he would need to create a technique like that is if he was planning on fighting another member of the fire nation royal family since they are the only ones who can lightning bend.
its pretty obvious the only one who iroh would need to use this technique against is ozai so that leaves two possibilities. either iroh developed the technique before azulons death because he thought ozai might attempt to seize the throne from him or he developed it after azulons death because he was at some point planning on seizing the throne back from ozai before eventually giving up on that idea. what do you guys think
personally i think he knew his brother was going to try something and developed the technique to protect himself from ozai. i think when lieu ten died, iroh gave up all interest in the throne and instead decided to put his energy into zuko. that said theirs a good bit of time between lieu tens death and zukos banishment so it is entirely possible that iroh developed the technique during those years.
Like the way in the S2 finale she actually seems to genuinely care about her brother that she couldn’t bring herself to kill him. Imagine if the final season where after Zuko joins Team Avatar he actually wants to help her, and feels that if he was able to change, then he has faith that she could too.
I actually really enjoyed how they handled Iroh's moments leading up to him breaking down over the loss of his son. Obviously it's something that still haunts him and being in Ba Sing Sei would absolutely bring up all those memories of losing him during the siege.
When he gets to the tree and finally can't hold his emotions anymore it's very poignant, especially after seeing the names of those killed during the siege Iroh led on top of the survivors scarred from the fire nations actions.
I'm also happy they didn't have him sing the song. The Avatar fanbase holds that song in a very revered manner, even to the point that Iroh's current voice actor refuses to sing it because he sees it as solely Mako's song.
The series is far from perfect but I've been enjoying aspects of it and this was one that stood out for me.
From the moment I started watching LoK last week I knew I'd come across this scene as I heard this is what led to Nickelodeon souring on the show. But im curious if this scene was the reason LoK got booted off the main channel why was it even allowed to happen cause I'd assume Nickelodeon's S&P department would have taken issue with it
[book 1 episode 15: bato of the water tribe]
Watching Zuko and Aang fight, but can’t help wondering… wouldn’t Aang’s airbending make Zuko’s fire stronger?
(Rewatching the show for the first time in a while, so feel free to correct me if I’m forgetting something.)
