First Bike – KTM 390 Adventure | Need Gear Recommendations Under ₹20K

Hi KTM family!

I’ve just bought my first bike, the KTM 390 Adventure, and I’m really excited to start riding. I’m a complete beginner with only a basic understanding of riding, so I’d really appreciate some advice from experienced riders.

I have a budget of around ₹20,000 for riding gear and need recommendations for:

Helmet

Riding jacket

Riding pants

Riding shoes/boots

I’m looking for good safety and value for money, rather than just the cheapest options. If possible, please suggest specific brands/models that are suitable for a beginner and available in India.

Also, if you think I should prioritize certain gear first within this budget, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice! 🙏

Need help on my first bike

Hey KTM gang! 👋

My family is planning to buy me my first bike, and I'm seriously considering the KTM 390. I could really use some advice from experienced owners.

I'm a complete beginner. I've only ridden a KTM 200 for a few hours, but I absolutely loved the experience. Now I'm wondering if the 390 is a good choice as a first bike or if it's too much for someone just starting out.

I'm not even sure how I'll be using it yet. It might mostly be for city rides, but I also want the option of doing long weekend trips and touring in the future.

A few questions:

- Is the KTM 390 beginner-friendly if I take it slow and ride responsibly?

- How has your ownership experience been, especially when it comes to reliability and service costs?

- Any common issues or things I should know before buying?

- If anyone has tips on getting a good deal or negotiating with the dealership, I'd really appreciate them.

For reference, I'm around 5'6" (168 cm) and have beginner-level riding experience.

Recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at 29 (A1C 9.2) and feeling overwhelmed

Hi everyone,

I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I'm 29 years old, weigh around 222 lbs (101 kg), and my A1C came back at 9.2%.

To be honest, I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed. I'm not on any medication yet, and every day feels mentally and physically heavy. I've also been experiencing tingling in my feet and whenever I eat a meal that's higher in carbs, I feel extremely sleepy afterward.

I'm still trying to understand what all of this means and what life with diabetes looks like going forward. If anyone has been diagnosed at a younger age, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience how you coped with the diagnosis, what helped you get things under control, and any advice you wish you'd received when you were first diagnosed.

Thanks in advance.
