Any recommendations? Help!

Trying to understand how someone could build that monstrosity on Binney and Shore in Old Greenwich. I walk past it every day, and as someone who has lived here nearly 60 years, never did I think the town would allow someone to build a palatial McMansion like this on that small lot. Is this what we can expect going forward from our building dept? Driven by $$ over preserving our beautiful town? Aren’t designers and builders meant to consider the wellbeing of the overall landscape? Or just the good ones? It reads self-serving and ostentatious. Anyone else with me or am I just old?
