What is living with peanut allergy really like?

My husband and I don’t have any family history of food allergies, so when we found out that our daughter has a peanut allergy, our minds just went blank. We honestly didn’t know what to expect or what this might mean for her life.

For adults who have lived with a peanut allergy, would you mind sharing what your experience has been like?

Has having a peanut allergy made your everyday life significantly more difficult? Do you feel like it has shaped who you are or affected your personality in any way? Do you ever find yourself wondering what your life would be like if you didn’t have the allergy?

I think as a parent, I’m just trying to understand what life might look like for my daughter as she grows up, and I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually lived through it.

I’m sorry if any of these questions come across as insensitive or bring up difficult feelings. That’s absolutely not my intention. Please let me know if anything I’ve asked is inappropriate, and I’m happy to remove the post.

What does SPT wheal size really mean/indicate?

Hi folks, I’m looking forward to reading some real world dp and insights other than the cold stats saying that wheals larger than 8mm would 95% for sure to tell you are allergic.

Is it possible to have large wheal but actually no clinical allergic reactions? Or in other words, is it possible to have large wheal but also pass food challenge?

My 8mo tried peanut butter for the first time when she was 6mo. Back then she only had a few hives around mouth and some redness over where she touched or rubbed on the face. No other symptoms at all and they faded on their own while completely resolved like 30min after Zyrtec was given.

Last week we just did our SPT and the result was 11/30. It’s big, but i still hope that there’s some chance to turn things around (I know, I’m completely in the phase of shock and negation). Or is it just a final verdict …

Hello! I’m shopping around houses to rent or buy, I find antelope hill community super attractive. But it was built in 1979. This was an awkward year. I’m wondering if the houses here use lead painting or asbestos? Or in general, what resources are available to determine if a house is free of lead and asbestos?
