Successor trustee authority
I will try to make this brief but it's a lot.
My parents set up a living trust back in the 90's. My dad passed away in 2003, my mom passed last month at the age of 93 (California) . There are 3 of us kids, one in CA, one in AR and me in TX.
When she was 90, my mother changed the executor from my oldest brother to my felon nephew who just so happened to volunteer to take care of her and he bailed her out of the rehab facility. On the way home, they stopped at the bank and she consigned on a personal loan for $20k to take care of his debt.
So now that she's gone, this is a hot mess.
There's the house she lived in that's in the trust. Right now, the nephew is going through all the possessions of the house deciding what to keep.
Don't we have any rights to the household contents?
When the house sells, do the beneficiaries have a say in the selling price and acceptance of the contract?
