Treachery in The Blue (Mooncat) vs Just Like This (Emily de Molly)
While I was planning some nail polishes to buy from Emily de Molly, I noticed "Just Like This" a Thermal that also had a pink to blue color shift like "Treachery in the Blue" by Mooncat, and I was curious how they compared so I ended up buying it.
As soon as I saw the bottles I knew they weren't going to be dupes, but decided I might as well still compare them. I'd also heard about throwing on a coat of pink before wearing TitB to get it to better match the store's pictures, so I decided to try that on my right hand too.
JlT has blue shimmer particles throughout (which I don't quite love since in some lighting it detracts from the warm pink state, but in other lighting definitely looks nice, so I don't hate it either), and is genuinely pink in it's warm state without needing help from a pink primer. In it's cold state it's a bit of a brighter blue too. The two transition at slightly different temperatures, and JlT stayed in the warm state longer (I actually had to stick my hand under the sink to see it turn all blue). Transition temperature wise, TitB worked out better for me, but YMMV.
TitB is a bit more understated with solid colors and only some subtle glitter, but I do still like it, especially since it transitions so well for me. It's also a little less sheer, so on the right hand I was able to just put one coat of it over Raspberry Glaze (my pink coat of choice, by Cracked) and have it fully hide, where JlT looked a little too sheer as 1 coat, so it still got 2.
