Please forgive the terrible photo, I'm still learning how to photograph my nails (in addition to learning how to do nail art lol). But I've been making lists of memes that I can turn into manis even with my nonexistent nail art skills and the children's hospital color theory meme from tumblr seemed perfect for October!

Bee's Knees Lacquer What is Devotion Without Love? (two coats, loose glass bead) with Mooncat Getting Even basecoat and Vibrant Scents qdtc. Featured with Izze sparkling blackberry juice, Starbucks dragonfruit lemonade, and a homemade pumpkin spice latte.

Really love this polish - I'm planning to redo my mani as usual this weekend, but I'm almost reluctant to!

*Correction: The topcoat was Sally Hansen Dries Instantly (this is different from the Insta-Dri). I use that for magnetics since it doesn't have toulene! Vibrant Scents is otherwise my go to.

Hi, This is my first mani in quite a while. Regular polish 1 coat and a thick layer of top coat. I wanted to just practice the absolute basics.

Red polish: NHC nail polish; Color Cosmetic number 158.

Topcoat is Luodanqi QDTC; number 11.

First pic is now my attractive/photogenic hand, the right. Left always used to be my winner 😪, so picture taking was easy. Now it's like a cat with socks to get a good photograph of my right hand, so awkward.

The rest of the pics are left hand. Ring finger was injured and the nail is now bumpy 😖 The rest of the hand, I dunno. It's not up to par and just generally I need help.

Is there anywhere I could improve? Any tricks to make things look more ... polished? 🤭 Are side walls OK? The shaping? Am I going too close to the p fold? They just don't look great.

I ordered Nailed It Magnetics’ new iteration of the glass bead spinner (5DPrintFactory on Etsy) and wanted to test it out on some of my magnetics!

I magnetized with my 13lb horseshoe attached on top of the spinner. Didn’t result in a super tight bead, but the tool was really easy to use (I nicked my left middle finger as seen in the video, but that was 100% user error). I’d say the tool results in a velvet/glass bead hybrid with the polishes I tried—mostly BKL, a little tighter with the MC polish. Overall, happy with the purchase!

Only took me a few days, but it is done. My spooky mani for Saturday’s board game night with some friends. Was a big learning curve do to with acrylics but so fun and rewarding 😍 game box I was matching to is last pic. Dunno if I’ll want to spend multiple days on another mani for a long time but I’m super happy with how this project turned out!

I used 30lbs glass bead spinner for the effect and I feel like I’m wearing jewels on my fingers. They also sort of remind me of olives lol. One hand I used acetone and the other I used jojoba oil to prep and will give an update later this week. (I heard the oil can help polish chip less)

Tl;dr: I was worried my nails and fingers was permanently damaged from gel allergy. More than a year later, here is the result. So if you are in the same boat as me, know that there is hope.

It's humbling to post these because I thought I did all the appropriate research before gel. The right lamp to gel, cleaning up if it touches skin, not over e-filing, no peeling but soaking, using builder gel, looking for HEMA free.... All the good stuff, but still this happened.

I am relieved that there's so much innovation and options with lacquer. I've learned so much from people in this sub and am able to recreate a lot of looks usually done with gel. Happy to report there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sending love and light so anyone also going through their nail health journey.

I LOVE gem stones - now that I have tried glass beads and sea glass nails, I am wondering if anyone has done gem stone skittles nails?

I have mostly seen gem stone nails done with gel, and if you have done/seen something like this, I would love to try following tips or tutorials from lacqueristas much more talented than I am!

Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Nail hardener: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength x 1
Top coat Sally Hansen Insta dri (red bottle) x 1

Magnetized last coat of color, hardener and TC layers, twirly wand method.

Bonus of using the nail hardener: better with tip wear, and it makes the manicure look super plump. Downside: I see more shrinkage with this method.
