I built an Android app for DD-WRT routers and I'm looking for beta testers!

Hey everyone!

I'm an independent developer, and I've been working on DD-WRT Pilot, an Android app designed to make managing DD-WRT routers easier right from your phone.

I'm looking for DD-WRT users who would be willing to try it out and help me improve it before its official release.

🔧 What does DD-WRT Pilot offer?

📡 SSH Management — Connect to your router and execute commands.

⚡ Saved Commands — Save frequently used commands for quick access.

🛜 Router Profiles — Organize and manage multiple router connections.

📱 Device Management — Access tools to help manage devices on your network.

🔄 Firmware Updates — Check for firmware updates and access upgrade functionality.

🧪 I'm looking for beta testers!

I'd love to hear from people using different router models and DD-WRT firmware versions.

You don't need to be a developer or networking expert. I'm looking for honest feedback about:

  • Compatibility with different routers and firmware builds.
  • SSH connection issues or bugs.
  • User experience and interface improvements.
  • Features you'd like to see added in future versions.

📥 Want to give it a try?

Repo: https://github.com/elglladX/DD-WRT-Pilot-Releases

Download the latest release: https://github.com/elglladX/DD-WRT-Pilot-Releases/releases/tag/v1.0.0

Download the APK from the https://github.com/elglladX/DD-WRT-Pilot-Releases page and follow Android's prompts if installation requires permission for apps from that source. Only install it if you're comfortable testing an independently developed app.

If you try it, please leave a comment or send me a message with your router model, DD-WRT version, and any feedback you have.

This is an independent project, and every bit of feedback helps me make it better. Thanks to everyone willing to give it a shot!

Voting help in TP-LINK Community

Hey everyone, I posted a feature request on the official TP-Link Community to ask the R&D team for firmware parity (adding Speed Limit and Config Backup) on the Deco X20-DSL, just like other Deco models. If you use this model or support better firmware updates, please drop an upvote/reply on the thread to get the admins' attention: [https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/871802\]

Feature Parity Request: Client Speed Limit & Configuration Backup for Deco X20-DSL (V1)

I am reaching out to request a much-needed firmware update for the Deco X20-DSL (EU) V1, which currently runs on firmware version 1.0.13 Build 20231226.

The Deco X20-DSL is a fantastic all-in-one VDSL gateway with rock-solid hardware stability. However, while other Deco models have received significant management and bandwidth control upgrades, the X20-DSL firmware has been left behind without core features that are essential for modern home network management.

Specifically, we are requesting firmware parity with other models regarding two critical features:

  1. Per-Client Speed Limit (Bandwidth Cap):
    • The Issue: The current priority-based QoS does not allow setting strict numerical limits on individual devices, making it very difficult to manage monthly data quotas.
    • Reference Models Already Supporting This: This feature is already officially documented (FAQ 4340) and running on models such as Deco X50, Deco X55, and standard Deco X20 (Hardware V4 on firmware 1.1.x/1.2.x), where users can directly set download/upload limits in Mbps per client.
  2. Configuration Backup & Restore:
    • The Issue: Since the X20-DSL operates as both a VDSL modem and a router handling static IPs, custom DNS, and port forwarding rules, having no way to back up and restore configurations locally or via the app creates a huge hassle when troubleshooting or resetting.
    • Reference Models Already Supporting This: As detailed in FAQ 4739, this functionality is already supported on several models like Deco X50 and Deco XE75.

Given that the Deco X20-DSL has more than enough processing power to handle these features, leaving out client bandwidth caps and configuration backup on a flagship DSL model limits its full potential.

Could this request please be escalated directly to the L3 Support / HQ R&D Firmware Team to consider compiling a firmware update (or a Beta build) for the Deco X20-DSL (V1)?

Thank you for your continuous support and for helping us get the most out of our Deco hardware!
