Can I power the X50 outdoor with POE but use mesh instead of live Ethernet?

I am getting an X50 outdoor to connect to existing Deco XE75 network. I want to connect the X50 to rest of network via wireless backhaul (not wired). Can I power it over POE with an injector only and not connect it to wired data? There’s no wired data connection, but I want to use POE due to placement. Concern is that once the X50 senses a POE connection it will require wired data and prevent using wireless mesh. Does it prevent that?

TP-Link_MLO network showing up

Hey guys Im running into a weird situation I haven't seen before. I have a tp link router with and extender with mesh. I notice that on my wifi network it's broadcasting TP-Link_MLO and it's unsecured. I don't have MLO enable under wireless settings. Why is this showing up and how do I turn it off. Plus when I click on the network it just connects with no password needed. Please help.

TP Link BE65 and WiFi 6E devices

Planning on buying the BE65. Apart from my WiFi 7 laptop, most of my devices support WiFi 6 or 6E.

Maybe a dumb question: What would happen if eg my LG G6 TV, which has WiFi 6E connect to the BE65? Will this connection provide all the benefits of 6E, or will it fall back to WiFi 6 or WiFi 5?
What speed and latency can I expect? I am streaming from Plex and using GeForce Now, hence need a stable connection of at least 150-200Mbit. The TV will be 8 meters from the TP BE65 and there are 2 walls in between.

On top of that my new home (2019) has 3 floors (including ground floor). I an aiming to have a wired back haul, but if this isn’t an option, will having 1 BE65 on each floor provide stable and fast (above 300-500 Mbit) internet on the first and second floor? The source is 4Gbit fiber.

Finally! ONT-on-a-stick actually worked. Kodus for the person that first came up with the solution!

I bypassed my ISP’s BGW320-500 gateway entirely with a $108 WAS-110 XGS-PON ONU stick plugged straight into a TP-Link BE33000 mesh system — and it made a real difference: 15–20% more consistent speed test results and slightly lower latency (now pulling 5.09 Gbps down / 4.89 Gbps up).

Lesson learned: no amount of tweaking NIC settings, MTU, IP passthrough, or DMZ on the gateway ever really helps. I wasted plenty of time and money swapping mesh systems and flipping between router/AP modes, and any gains were coincidental.

In the end, cutting the ISP gateway out of the path completely was the fix — and for once I didn’t waste money.

The BE95 is a beast — APs 60 feet apart in separate rooms and the wireless backhaul still pushes 4 Gbps. Makes you wonder why anyone bothers with wired backhaul. (I’m obviously still going to run it.)

Help getting ipv6 public address from gfiber

Hey, I am trialing switching my home network over to TP-Link Deco (BE5000). Most everything is going fine, but don't seem to be assigned an ipv6 address. I have enabled it in the router settings (Dynamic IP, Get IPv6 Address: Auto, Prefix Delegation: enable, DNS Address: Auto, Assigned Type: SLAAC+Stateless DHCP).

In switching, I completely disconnected the gfiber internal networking garbage and connected the main Deco directly to the gfiber bridge.

Does anyone happen to know what the correct settings might be? Gfiber support is about as useless as one would expect thus far.

Ecobee3 Lite - WiFi dropping, troubleshooting, current fix

Own 3 Ecobee3 Lite's for roughly 2 years. First 1.5 years, no WiFi issues (Asus XT8 mesh network with 2 nodes). Then started having connectivity issues and losing WiFi. Since other devices also having issues, I switched the Asus to TP-Link Deco XE70 with 3 nodes.

With the Deco XE70, WiFi connectivity became significantly worse. Losing connection daily. Troubleshooting steps along with Ecobee support:
- static IP on each ecobee unit
- Deco specific tweaks:
- - - moving to Deco IoT isolated network with unique name
- - - turning off mesh in app for each ecobee by MAC address
- - - forcing all units to connect to same node
- - - DHCP reservation on Deco app for each ecobee unit

Nothing fixed the issues. And continued to drop daily. (Of note, no other issues with the new Deco XR70 system with multiple IoT devices, including Ring cameras and variety of other devices).

Ecobee support stated a firmware release roughly 6 months ago - which correlated with my worsening connectivity. They stated they couldn't roll back firmware.

Last ditch and what worked - new single access point (TP-Link TL-WA801N) doing 2.4 Ghz only. I connected this to my existing system via ethernet/hardwire, and created a separate network/SSID. No other changes to the default settings created on the 2.4 Ghz network. And on each ecobee, just connected from the list (no static IP setting). Result? Success.Headaches are gone. No drops in past 5 days. Prior to this switch, at least 1 ecobee would drop off every 24 hrs.

Deco Mesh X15 vs X50

Hello!

Just wishing to get an opinion on this, recently bought 3 nodes of X15 however noticed in my country the difference in price is about 70 USD for the X50.

Question would be, is it worth it to return the X15 and buy the X50?

The reason why I'm reluctant is because my internet speed is capped at 1gbps and the X15 should be able to handle this in full capacity.

Nevertheless on my PC using the satellite node (with ethernet cat6) I get about give or take 100 mbps.

Is it even worth it upgrade in if the system can't handle the distances and layout of my home?

For reference here, I cannot link the nodes via ethernet between themselves, my house isn't built for it (don't have rj45 plugs in the wall).

All cables from Satellite node to PC and ISP router to main deco are cat6.

Added a image with the home layout

TP-Link Deco X10 drops to 4 Mbps after every power outage/reboot, but goes back to 90+ Mbps after reconnecting. Is my router defective?

Hi everyone,

I'm honestly losing my mind trying to diagnose this issue.

My internet plan is 100 Mbps. I'm using a TP-Link Deco X10 with a C-Data ONU provided by my ISP.

Here's exactly what's happening:

•When everything is working normally, I get around 90–93 Mbps, which is expected.

•Every time there's a power outage or I restart the router/ONU, the internet comes back at only 4 Mbps.

The Deco still connects to the internet, but the speed is stuck around 4 Mbps.

•Sometimes unplugging/reconnecting or moving the Ethernet cable between the Deco's two Ethernet ports makes it instantly return to 90+ Mbps.

•What's confusing is that both ports have worked at full speed at different times. The same port that gave me 4 Mbps has later given me 90+ Mbps, so I can't tell if it's actually a bad port.

Things I've already tried:

•Replaced the ONU.

•Replaced the router.

•Restarted both devices many times.

•Used different Ethernet ports.

•Took the Deco to my ISP, and they said it worked normally there.

At home, the issue only seems to appear after a power outage or reboot. Once it's back at 90 Mbps, it stays stable until the next restart.

Because the problem only happens after rebooting, I'm wondering if this is:

an Ethernet auto-negotiation issue,

a compatibility problem between the Deco X10 and my ONU,

a firmware bug,

or a hardware fault that I should claim under warranty.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Deco X10 or another router? Is there anything specific I should test to determine whether the router is actually defective, or whether this is an ONU/compatibility issue?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I'm still within the warranty period and don't know whether I should replace the router or keep troubleshooting.

Thanks!

Extender and Bridge set up question

Hi, I live in a rural area in an off grid solar powered yurt. The land I'm on has a main house that has star link internet and we have a wifi extender that extends the signal from the star link router at an outbuilding. There is a clear line of sight from the outbuilding to my yurt. The yurt is like maybe 1500 feet from the outbuilding. I'd like to run a wireless bridge from the outbuilding to the yurt. I bought two TP-link CPE-510 units to do this. It is not possible right now to run an hard line cable from the star link router to the outbuilding. So my puzzle/question is can I wire the CPE-510 to the extender as the internet source and then use that signal for the CPE-510 units to create the bridge to the yurt? unfortunately there isn't a clear line of sight from the main house to my yurt, so I can't just bridge from there. Our current extender is a TP-link (not sure the model but a cheap one). I was wondering if there are any wifi extenders I can buy that have a Gigabit Ethernet port that I can plug into the LAN port of the POE injector for the CPE-510 unit at the outbuilding. On the yurt side. I have a CPE-510 unit conencted by CAT6 cable to the injector and another CAT6 cord from the injector LAN port conencted to the WAN port of a small router (GL.inet Opal). So my questions are: 1) can I connect the CPE-510 at the outbuilding to an wifi extender via a CAT6 cord and use the extender as the internet source? 2) if so, what is an extender that is a good fit for outside mounting, has the LAN port and is under $100? 3) anything special I need to know for set up like what mode set the CPE units to (bridge, AP, client, repeater, other)? 4) If this won't work, any other solutions you can think of that are wireless and inexpensive? I know this is a lengthy post. Thanks or your help!

TP-Link's support and RMA, absolutely shameful

I bought a TP-Link TL-SG605E switch on Amazon (sold and shipped by Amazon) just over a year ago. It stopped powering on. I tested with another adapter I have from an identical switch – still doesn't power on.

Amazon told me to contact the manufacturer. TP-Link support told me that for all 3 years of the legal warranty, the replacement must be handled by the store (Amazon), and that there is "no other way." They sent me their warranty policy link as "proof."

I quoted Spanish law (Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007, Article 124), which establishes joint and several liability – meaning the consumer can choose to claim against either the seller OR the manufacturer. The agent's response? "You can sue Amazon and win," and "When you close the chat, you can send a copy to your email so you have proof if you go to court."

For a switch, a cheap network switch, the suggestion of going to court over something like this is absolutely ridiculous.

I escalated it and asked for a supervisor. They took my phone number and said they'd escalate, then disconnected.

The customer service is an absolute joke. They don't comply with the law, they hide behind their own internal policies, and they treat customers like idiots. It's shameful that a company this size refuses to honor its legal obligations. I will never buy another TP-Link product again, and I encourage everyone to think twice before giving this brand your money. There are plenty of alternatives out there that actually respect consumer rights.

Here's the full chat transcript. Judge for yourself.

[USER] (11:50:53)
I bought it more than a year ago on Amazon. They told me to contact the manufacturer. It's a TP-Link TL-SG605E switch. I have another one that works fine. I tested if it was the power adapter, but it still doesn't work even after changing the adapter.

Support-Agent-R (11:52:54)
Good morning, [NAME]. So the SG605E doesn't power on?

[USER] (11:53:17)
I have another identical one and I thought it might be the adapter, but using the other adapter still doesn't make it work.

[USER] (11:53:30)
Good morning.

Support-Agent-R (11:54:44)
Okay, but is the problem that the switch doesn't power on at all, or does it behave erratically?

[USER] (11:55:29)
It doesn't turn on at all. That's why I tested with another adapter, because I have two.

Support-Agent-R (11:56:19)
I understand. Let's try something: plug the power supply into the SG605E, then press the reset button on the back of the switch for at least 30 seconds. See if there's any change.

Support-Agent-R (11:56:45)
If there's no change, I'll let you know how to claim the warranty with Amazon, since they are the ones who must do the replacement, no ifs or buts.

[USER] (11:57:12)
Yes, still the same. It just doesn't turn on. Amazon told me to contact the manufacturer, that's what they said.

[USER] (11:57:52)
If needed, I can forward you the email.

Support-Agent-R (11:58:02)
You should come to us for technical configuration issues, but the replacement is always with the store/distributor.
Is your email [EMAIL]?

[USER] (11:58:25)
It's a 3-year warranty and after the second year it's with the brand.

[USER] (11:58:34)
The email is [EMAIL].

Support-Agent-R (11:59:07)
It's 3 years, and for all 3 years the replacement is done by the store. I'll send you an email detailing everything shortly.

[USER] (11:59:48)
That's not how it works. The warranty is 3 years; the last year is with the manufacturer. You can check what the warranty law says.

Support-Agent-R (12:00:53)
https://www.tp-link.com/es/support/replacement-warranty/

Support-Agent-R (12:01:15)

 1. Conditions and Execution of RMA Service Legal Warranty (Years 1–3): In accordance with legislation, the customer must process the lack of conformity through the original point of purchase to ensure a quick replacement.

Support-Agent-R (12:02:03)
Please visit that link. It's TP-Link's warranty policy. That is, I'm not saying this, the company says it. It's not that I want to contradict you; it's what the company states.

[USER] (12:02:06)
So you take no responsibility for anything, according to what you're saying. Wow. Because since I didn't know what to do, I've seen several forums, and apparently they give different treatment in other countries.

[USER] (12:02:14)
Because you do cover the legal warranty.

[USER] (12:02:31)
This is the first time I've seen this.

Support-Agent-R (12:03:03)
Other countries have other rules, I suppose. And yes, we do take responsibility, [NAME]. You have a warranty and you process the replacement with the store/distributor where you bought it.

[USER] (12:04:54)
The product is sold and shipped by Amazon, and Amazon says to contact TP-Link. They are not going to send a replacement or do anything else.

[USER] (12:05:03)
If you want, I can send you the email.

Support-Agent-R (12:05:41)
Please reply to my email and send us that email from Amazon. When we receive it, we'll review it.

[USER] (12:08:12)
It seems you don't want to understand that Amazon doesn't want to do this, and legally the manufacturer is the one that has to handle the RMA. It's very clear.

[USER] (12:08:35)
If you want, I can send you the emails, but I'm not going to keep arguing with Amazon on the phone like I've been doing.

Support-Agent-R (12:10:35)
You don't have to argue anything. TP-Link's warranty policy is clear: the store must do the replacement; there is no other way. Maybe the Amazon person you spoke to was misinformed and gave you bad information.
From my side, I've given you the official link, shown you the official warranty policy, and told you how to proceed.

Support-Agent-R (12:11:07)
Send us the emails Amazon sent you. When we receive them, we'll discuss them with higher-level support.

[USER] (12:11:24)
The legality is this: This is governed by Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007, which approves the revised text of the General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users (TRLGDCU), amended in 2021 to extend the warranty to 3 years.
The key article is Article 124, which talks about "Joint and Several Liability." It essentially says that the consumer can go against either the seller or the producer (manufacturer) to demand repair or replacement.
In practice, your case is like this:

 • First 2 years: The seller (Amazon) is the main responsible party. They cannot refer you to the manufacturer if you don't want to.
 • Third year (where you are now): The seller is still ultimately responsible, but the law establishes a presumption that the defect is not of origin, and it's up to you to prove that the failure came from the factory. This is where the manufacturer (TP-Link) has a crucial role, because they are the ones with the technical knowledge to determine that origin defect.

[USER] (12:12:25)
This is the first time I've seen this. Keep it up. Besides bringing this to the attention of the OCU and the OMIC, I will stop buying this brand. I find this incredible.

Support-Agent-R (12:14:17)
What you've been told is old. On January 1, 2022, it was modified and the legal warranty went from 2 to 3 years, during which the replacement is done by the store.

Support-Agent-R (12:15:05)
You can report this, you can sue Amazon and win. In fact, when you close the chat, you can send a copy of it to your email so you have proof of everything we've said if you go to court.

[USER] (12:16:17)
You are mistaken. The legal warranty went from 2 to 3 years; before, the warranty was 2 years. What you're saying is not correct. A lawsuit for an 18-euro switch? Everything you say is ridiculous. If you would please, pass this on to a supervisor. Thank you.

Support-Agent-R (12:17:14)
Alright, please give me a contact phone number and I'll escalate your details to a supervisor. Thanks.

[USER] (12:17:37)

 1. Before 2022: The warranty was 2 years total. In the first 6 months, the defect was presumed to be of origin, and in the remaining 18 months, the consumer had to prove it.
 2. After 2022: The warranty was extended to 3 years. The presumption of origin defect was extended to the first 2 years. In the third year, the consumer must demonstrate that the failure is of origin, and here the manufacturer is a key figure. The seller's 3-year responsibility does not invalidate your right to demand from the manufacturer, especially when the seller has left you stranded in writing.

[USER] (12:17:47)
[PHONE]

Router running but very poor speed/connection

So I just had fiber set up in my apartment. The router is the archer ax75. The router has all the leds lit green and the app says it’s running well, but the speeds are abysmal and it rarely connects. Speeds are fine when testing modem directly connected to 1st pc. I tried different ethernet cables. I tried power cycling. I had tried two different set ups (ax75 and ax1500 mesh system), only difference was the mesh system displayed better speeds in app but it did not correlate to real speeds. Apartment is 1400 square ft total. Modem is down in living room, 2nd pc is directly above on 2nd floor, and 3rd pc is on 2nd floor further down the hall. Highest speed I got on 2nd one was 30 mbps while the 3rd cannot connect at all.

Deco M4R slow speeds with wired backhaul

Hello all!

I recently got a Deco X20 to replace my main Deco (M4R). I decided to get rid of my satellite wireless only Decos and moved the M4R upstairs with a wired backhaul over MoCA. while the connection is very stable, I noticed the speeds over WiFi drop significantly from the M4R.

It usually pulls around 70-120 Mbps from the M4R. Our connection is 500 Mbps, and the X20 easily does this over WiFi. And yes, the device I’m testing from is definitely connected to the M4R when I’m pulling 70-120 Mbps.

Things I’ve done:

• confirmed gigabit link both from the MoCA adapter (Hitron MoCA 2.5) and the M4R

• Ran Speedtest from MoCA adapter Ethernet port directly as well as ethernet port on the M4R, both pulled full 500 Mbps

• Rebooted and factory reset the M4R

• Confirmed using Ethernet backhaul in Deco app

I understand the M4R is only AC1200, but even in real world usage I thought it should be able to pull at least 300-500 Mbps over WiFi, especially standing next to it? With the old setup, I did also test standing next to the M4R when it was setup as the main Deco, and it did pull pretty close to 500 Mbps if not more.

If anyone has any insight as to why our WiFi speeds are slower than expected or advice on other things to try, it would be greatly appreciated :)

devices:

Deco X20

Deco M4R

Hitron MoCA 2.5 adapters

iPhone 17 Pro

Roku 3820RW (Streaming Stick 4K, next to M4R)

Windows 11 PC (for ethernet tests)

ISP: Spectrum

Deco optimization not optimizing

I can't understand how Deco's optimization can be so bad that it doesn't find it problematic to use channel 2 while it's congested, while channel 11 is practically free. I have a pair of Deco X20 that has no updates since December 2024. I know it's only the 2.4Ghz network, but it doesn't change the fact that I should really optimize, or at least let you choose channels... I use this network for smart home devices, so I use it a lot 😃

Any tips on how to configure the AXE5400 mesh system with the AT&T Gig Fiber modem?

I'm moving on from a Ubiquity router and Spectrum coax modem I have grown to truly despise. The fiber has been installed and is great.

I have a small Ubiquity router and four 'flying saucer' access points (22 wi-fi clients and a bunch of wired gear like desktops, laptop, printer, streaming devices, consumer entertainment gear) that I moved from the Spectrum modem to the AT&T fiber modem by just moving the CAT6 cable to the router over so I had zero down time. The AT&T modem is in passthrough mode.

Works OK, but there are holes in the coverage (3 story 90 year old lath-n-plaster house that tends to be hard on wifi signal range). I'm far more concerned about coverage than data speed (we don't stream stuff to our two phones but do use wi-fi calling because cell service sucks from all carriers here).

So I bought the AXE5400 mesh system with three nodes and want to get that set up.

Before I reinvent the wheel several times while setting it up, anyone with the same or similar setup care to give some words of advice on setup/configuration?

Much appreciated.

have to regularly change port on back to keep speed

We have a X73-DSL and it has a consistent problem maintaining LAN speed - wireless is fine. But for the LAN every day or two speed drops from 500 or so to around 80 and I have to change the port on the back. Then it goes back to 500 for a couple of days until I have to unplug and change the port back to the one it was last in. That is, the port is not faulty, I just have to change back and forth between two ports to get the correct speed

Any ideas on why this happens and how to fix it

I am on win11

Please help

Hi all!
I've just bought two brand new deco x55 (AX3000), the decos are to be connected via utp to the the service provider modem. (ARRIS)
The utp is working, I checked it with a laptop.
The deco flashes blue, its ON, i can connect to it's "wifi" which has not been set up so far, but the QR code won't work in the tp link app it says "invalid code", and trying the manual set up does not work either because the tp link app won't find it.
Tried restarting the modem, then x55, or just the x55.
I tried connecting with the tp link app with phone and tablet too, same problems, the app does not see the device, but the laptop does.
Oh and the deco x55 can only be set up via the tp link app, not from browser...
I have no idea what else I can do.

Please help with writing what specific should I do. Thanks! BR, Anti
