Just curious on some thoughts here.

I currently have 240v power in the garage for the garage heater and what used to be a hot tub. The outlet is still there from the hot tub but it's capped and not currently in use. The breaker box has 240v breakers - 1 each for the heater and the previous hot tub.

Ideally I would like to just turn the previous hot tub connection into a nema 14-50 outlet. It's already wired for 240v all that needs to be done is install the nema outlet.. (I think)

I just got a quote and was told they would need to install a dedicated circuit with conduit and wiring. But why? Why can't you reuse what's already there.
