Lighten my Armalite AR-10?

I have an Armalite AR-10(T) 308 like in the picture. It weighs a ton and I would like to lighten it if possible. Looking for ideas along with brand names of replacement parts. Also seems the charger handle needs to be pulled back with the left hand. Is there any way to switch it to right hand? Thanks

My dad is very technical. Has done coding and built computers. There is a data center being built not too far from him. Are there any jobs a healthy 65 year old can do at a data center? Or would he be considered too old?
