Dumb question about longevity…

I need to get a vehicle for short trips around town. Would likely never be out for more than 30 to 50 miles total before being back home. I was looking at a used 2022 Leaf as a possible option. I have read a little about battery decline and was wondering if any of you had thoughts on whether this vehicle would still be a viable car 15 or 20 years down the road to still do that type of driving. Thank you in advance.

Dumb Bosh Dishwasher Question

We bought a house about 2 months ago. It has a Bosh dishwasher - model SHXM78Z55N/01 (not sure if the 01 at the end matters)

Today I noticed a strip of black rubberish material was hanging down from the bottom of the door. It seems like it used to be single strip that went from the edge of the door to the bottom of the main dishwasher itself.

It seems to have rotted for some reason and separated at the middle so the front part of it is connected to the door and dangles down and the back part is connected to the machine. The as a separate part that just tore off as well when I started touching it to try to tuck it back in. I am attaching a couple of pictures but they are really not the greatest.

I was wondering if anyone could explain what this item is for and whether it should be replaced or if the unit will work okay without doing that? I don’t want to cause any kind of leak of flood if it has anything to do with keeping things sealed somehow.

Thanks in advance for reading and any responses.
