Attic insulation inquiry

I am wondering if I should make changes to how my attic is insulated and considering the trade offs of a few different options. Here is the situation: small New England cape with a very shallow pitch in the rear. Recently installed ducted, whole home here pump with insulated unit in the attic. Currently very old attic insulation on the attic floor joists. There is NO ventilation almost whatsoever. What are my options, considering cost, benefits, comfort, including potential reroof and solar panels in next 10-15 years?

Recertified from SAVE to IBR

Through the recertification request I had a couple of options and they were radically different. IBR was $50/mo and ICR was $1k. Obviously I chose the lower payment. This must be too good to be true right?

Context: I am at 115 of 120 on PSLF.

Forbearance strategy

I am considering requesting a forbearance on my loans before I enter into repayment. I have only 5 payments remaining and I am waiting on the buyback letter. It’s been about 16 months. My worry is that I renter payment at a big number and end up paying it monthly and even after I reach 120. While the payment is something I can do for 5 months, I guess I don’t trust that I would be immediately forgiven at 120. What triggers that forgiveness and does it happen immediately? I don’t want to make overpayments for year before someone finally says I’m done and then chase the money and never get it back. Thoughts?

What happens if I just don’t do anything and they enroll me in a plan?

I think I have 5 or so payments left of PSLF. My worry is that if I start on a new plan that I will be locked into making payments for a long time, even after I make it to 120.

Got a second notice email about SAVE plan ending

At the very bottom of the notice there was a paragraph seeming to suggest that the time in the SAVE plan does not count for PSLF. I have not been making payments since COVID but I have been working in PSLF. I think at that time I was about 5 payments away.
