Alternator Failing?
Hey all, looking for some advice, but I have a battery that’s about 2 years old and we are just hitting winter in Australia which seems to speed up the issue but it still happens over summer.
I seem to need to charge my battery/recon it every few months, as the car seems to feel like it’s struggling to start. Once it’s charged, it’s good again. But I can’t seem to work out why, I try and do long trips every 4-6 weeks which should charge it sufficiently.
But I have put a multimeter across the terminals of the battery and that tests fine and then when the car is running and comes back on the lower end being 13.9V.
Is this just a sign of maybe the alternator struggling and think about replacing? It’s a pretty low mileage car(100,000km), but it is 15 years old.
It’s just charging now after a 1.5 hr trip last week and was sitting on 3 on the CTEK as the start didn’t sound ideal so I checked it.
