What’s with the over-announcements at NY Penn?

Has there been an uptick in people consistently getting on the wrong trains? Not having their tickets ready? I know mistakes happen, however it’s been feeling excessive at this point.

Just today, before the train departed, the conductor said the route like 6x. Repeating over and over and over what destination (i.e. Dover) and that the train does not, I repeat DOES NOT go to Newark Penn, DOES NOT go to Newark airport. That the train is in fact going to Dover, and therefore NOT Newark Penn and the airport. The announcements have a comedic and sarcastic tone.

And after telling us in 3 different ways that the train is not going to those stops, he repeats the stops after we start moving and advises that if we do not want the stops he said, that we are on the wrong train and to just transfer at Secaucus.

One time the conductor kept repeating to activate your ticket like 8x before departing.

I don’t remember hearing these kinds of excessive announcements a few months ago.

I find it aggravating at this point. I guess someone, somewhere needs 10 warnings before the train pulls off. I just turn the volume up on my headphones to drown it out.
