Question about the Morris and Essex and Gladstone Branch Lines suspension

According the the alert (pic one) Morris and Essex and Gladstone Branch Lines will remain suspended for 7/5. But the train to summit is not canceled(pic 2)? But isn’t it also part of the Gladstone branch?

Parking in Union / Roselle Park?

Hello fellow M&E riders, wondering the best way to get to NYC tomorrow. I normally commute from Short Hills and don’t want to drive to Harrison/SEC. Do Union or RP have a fair number of non resident spots? Need to get to NYP by 9:45 am tomorrow and assuming the train won’t be running. Thanks!

Monday morning woes on Sunday

Used to get the Sunday Scaries because of work… But how ridiculous is it now to get the Sunday scaries because of goddamn New Jersey transit? I hear on 1010 wins radio today that repairs are expected to be finished by Monday morning — except for the M&E line going to PENN NY. SHOULD WE ALL BE MAKING CONSIDERATIONS TO USE THE PATH ON MONDAY MORNING?

Double charged for World Cup ticket after transaction error

Hello, my friend tried to buy one $98 ticket on New Jersey transit for a World Cup game. The website timed out because they had bad service, so it did not go through and they tried again. The first message said that the hold had expired when they clicked purchase - it was an error message.

Now, there the are two $98 charges that are both posted, not pending. They only got one receipt for the transaction, showing that one ticket was actually bought, but there are two $98 charges. There is 1 ticket in their account.

Does anyone know the best way to address this? I know they can contest it, but wondering if there is anything else we can do with New Jersey transit. They already emailed but did not get a response yet.

Improve schedule accuracy on extreme temperature days with specific extreme heat schedule?

Until the Northeast Corridor from New Brunswick to New York Penn is upgraded to constant tension catenary, Amtrak will decrease speed limits when there’s extreme heat. This unfortunately the current state of the infrastructure and I think upgrading to constant tension catenary should be a top priority for NJT and Amtrak.

Given the speed limit reductions, it seems infeasible for NJ Transit to run their normal schedule which assumes the normal speed limits with some buffers.

Instead of keeping the typical schedule and then failing spectacularly to keep on schedule nearly every time there’s extreme heat, why doesn’t NJ Transit have an extreme heath schedule that they can reasonably maintain with the lower speed limits? This would provide more predictably for riders.

Staff pickup in between stop?

On Wednesday I was on the (late) 7:20pm train from New York Penn (I think to Trenton). After we were out of the tunnel, I heard a conductor’s radio say “staff pick up ____ (a name a can’t remember)”. We proceeded to come to a full stop in between two stations to pick up a staff member who I assume had just finished work? I’ve been riding NJT for 13 years and have never had this happen before. Anyone know of this happening?

REMINDER: No light rail service between LSP and Newport today

So, if you need to get from West Side or Bayonne towards Hoboken/North Hudson and vice versa, you're fucked.

Also, prepare for a longer walk to and from the events at Exchange Place

People going to Bayonne stranded at Liberty State Park due to the light rail being down.

I was in Hoboken station waiting 20 minutes for the light rial and was then told the 8th st light rail was down by the conductor of the train on the other platform that came by.

I was directed to walk to Newport, then take the west side light rail and get off at liberty where a shuttle bus would be waiting for us to take us into Bayonne.

A storm came through and fucked something up, shit happens. Weird that no train at all was coming to Hoboken though to take us to Liberty at least.

I did exactly that, only to find that no shuttle bus was waiting for me and all the other people who were there at liberty state park. People were already there waiting when I got there. 40 more minutes passed, it was now past midnight, still no bus. Had to spend $34 for a Lyft back home.

I'm not some middle class tech worker who can scoff at that number, that's 3 hours of work at my minimum wage job in the city.

Hope the bus eventually came for everybody else who was there. I'll be the millionth+1 post to say that the metro system surrounding the richest city on the planet should be better. I'm also subscribed to the r/njtransit subreddit and it's unbelievable how bad NJ Transit seems to be compared to where it should be.

Explain to me NJ transit like I’m dumb

Hi! I’ve booked a flight and an Airbnb to NJ (specifically Elizabeth) with the intent to travel to New York. I am close to the North Elizabeth subway station. I’ve downloaded the app and I’m a bit confused on how the whole thing works. Is it better for me to buy a subway ticket beforehand or simply show up that time? Also will I need a ticket for each stop the train takes? Thank you!

Why is NJ Transit cutting service again?

I relied on the 613 leaving at 11pm on Fridays to get home from work. Now they cut that bus out and for some reason the last bus leaves at 9 now. They even cut the bus that left at 10. I really don’t understand why. Can someone explain? This is the type of shit we gotta put up with after they just raised the price?

Every train cancelled! Maybe the PATH really IS better

I ended up on the PATH ten minutes later. I spend more money thinking the train would be a better ride than the PATH. Maybe I should just take the PATH from Penn and skip the bus and just walk. I see mildew on the bus ACs. I'm just tired of it all.

The all time worst commute ever

I get to Penn station and discovered that all trains in and out out Penn station are cancelled and that I need to do the Path Hoboken thing. I get to Hoboken and the PA system calls the 6:38 Dover train at track 17. I go there and people are going the other way.. They say .it's now track 14 per NJ Transit app. Sure enough, the PA system suddenly blurts out track 14. I rush over to 14. By now there are two train loads of ppl waiting. Then the PA says Dover train to track 16. The horde runs over to 16 and wait like supplicants to a capricious god. Praying for the train doors to open and admit their unworthy, sweaty bodies. The dread PS system booms again: Dover train to.track 10!. We all shuffle to train 10 and are admitted into the cool AC cars. It is now 730 pm and the train has yet to leave the station. Latest announcement is that a bridge between Hoboken and rest of NJ is out due to signal issues and they expect a minimun wait time of 60-90 minutes.

Update: it's now 8:00 pm and the train finally left. I guess they fixed the bridge faster than anticipated. I actually got a seat cause 75% of the passengers exited the train upon hearing the projected train delay. Hoping to finally get home within an hour or so. To everyone else beginning their evening commute home, I wish you the best of luck!

Update 2: I finally made it home, took a much needed shower and am grabbing some dinner. It's now 10:22 PM. I left my offfice around 5:30 PM. Today's commute: about 5 hours. Just another day on NJ Transit..
