Recently, I had a couple tell me during checkout that both sinks in their room would not drain. I wondered why they did not tell anyone before checkout. I apologized and told them I would have maintenance check it out. I let my manager know, and he asked me to go to the room to see if the sinks were really clogged. Both sinks were full of water. I stuck my gloved hand in the kitchen sink and pulled out the sink stopper; the water instantly drained. I then went to the bathroom and discovered the stopper was in the closed position. I pulled up the stopper, and the sink instantly drained. I ran water in both sinks to make sure there was not a clog. It was just guests who did not know how sinks operate and did not want to investigate the issue.

TL;DR: Guests claimed their sinks were clogged, but it was user error.

Second edit: For those responding, what shift do you work? I currently work the morning shift, which I think is "easier" than the evening shift. I used to work the evening shift (at a different hotel than the one I work at now), and I had to deal with maintenance issues that couldn't be resolved because management wouldn't answer my calls. I couldn't move the guest because we were a tiny hotel, and management wouldn't allow us to move them without their approval. Drunk guests, guests who tried to have parties, etc.

Edited to add: I know they chose to work in housekeeping, but I still feel guilty.

For my fellow front desk people, do you ever feel guilty for sitting behind your desk, scrolling on your phone while the housekeepers are running around cleaning? Sometimes, I feel like I should be doing more besides sitting behind the desk answering phone calls. Sometimes, I do help strip rooms when we have a sold-out night.

I first heard the song when I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch (2004-2007). The singer is female. The song could be a cover. A&F regularly played songs that are covers.
