Police disclosed my location via police report in my domestic violence case, and it was also openly discussed in court. The prosecutor didn’t use any discretion on sentencing day, and the defence knew exactly where I had relocated.

I moved for my safety. During the case, something pretty serious happened at my new location, and now I’m wondering if the disclosure could have played a role.

What are my legal options in Ontario if police disclose a victim’s location? Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is this common police disclosing this info.

So my spouse plead guilty for assault. Cause he showed remorse and did a ton of upfront work. They withdrawn his other charges.

How does suing him for damages work? Do we file damages in family court or it has to be personal injury ?
