Yellowstone Xanterra Old Faithful
This post isn’t to “scare” you but to give you a better idea of the company and the environment. Depending on the job you work it can go good or bad. I personally worked in retail which no complaint, easy job but not the best pay depending where youre coming from. If you want more hours you can help housekeeping (most of the time they’re understaffed and behind). Working in food and beverage from what I heard is the worst ! I heard a lot of drama, especially people talking about each other and I didn’t even work in that department … Next is the EDR food which I wish someone told me about before I started. It’s a lot of processed food. If you don’t like the main food items they will always have burgers, fries and chicken tenders. Again I mentioned it because this can affect your body ! it’s not high in nutrient which can cause sickness. On top of that I was hospitalized and was told I would have transportation back well … I waited almost 6+ hours (was told they forgot, once it started to get dark they then called again and said they might be able to get me tomorrow). From what the front desk said they do it often. Next is the pricing of things, because it is a national park and not much access to the cities things can get pricey. General store for example which is not ran through Xanterra. A small bottle of Tide Laundry Detergent cost over $8+, a lunchable is $5. You get the idea. Now the living situation STAY AWAY FROM COLUMBINE ! worst dorm ever. They have no access to water in there, the bathrooms 2 toilets and 3 showers for all up stairs, 3 people per room which means the company makes more money throwing you in a small room. Its also not on the government side. Paintbrush is the best dorm basically a luxury hotel.
