XText360 Homebrew App!
XText360 is an upcoming Xbox 360 homebrew application that lets you create and edit .txt and .ini files directly from your console. You can make new files in any folder you want and edit existing ones without constantly moving files back and forth using a USB stick.
Want to edit your launch.ini directly from the 360? You can. Probably dangerous for some people, but freedom rarely survives without consequences.
This preview video shows some of the current functionality of the app. The video has no audio yet, but more features and updates will be shown closer to release.
Current features include:
• Create .txt and .ini files in any directory
• Full text editing support
• Caret cursor movement for editing text in the middle of sentences or code, similar to holding the space bar on an iPhone/iPad keyboard
• Find/edit tools
• Highlight, copy, paste, cut, and delete support
• Basic “coding mode” for fun and readability improvements
• More features planned during development
I may also experiment with adding PictoChat-style chat rooms inspired by the Nintendo DS sometime in the future. That idea is still far away in development, but it would be hilarious seeing Xbox 360s casually messaging each other in 2026 like the console never accepted death.
