H- Street Hensley shirt from my teenage years with Hokus Pokus VHS.

My dumb ass would use this shirt to cover my snare to mute it while practicing drums, hence all the holes.

I was such a Hensley fanboy back then, I got a chain wallet like his, and would try to emulate his style. Hell, I’m still a fanboy for him…his collab board with Ray Barbee looks pretty sick.

Been rewatching Love Letters. I found this complete Grosso at a thrift store in Virginia Beach 26 years ago for like $10. Happy to still have it.

Who else has had several skateboarding relapses?

I started in ‘86/‘87. Basically stopped in ‘94 because I joined the military.

In 2001 I picked it back up and ended up breaking my elbow at the Vans skatepark outside of DC (that day sucked…was going to see Queens of the Stone Age. Broke my arm before the show. Still went with fucked arm and then Queens cancelled the show!) Quit skating and restarted surfing after my elbow healed because waves are softer than concrete.

But then in 2005 I moved to Brooklyn and restarted skating again because I lived right across from the Autumn Bowl in Greenpoint and became a key holder. Ate shit again and realized I should just stick with surfing haha.

Moved back home to San Diego in 2012 and restarted AGAIN! had fun just doing slappys and cruising skateparks but again surfing took over.

Now here I am at 50…too lazy to paddle out most days, but wanted to attempt to keep up my surfing chops so I bought some carver trucks to try surf-skating. While it’s pretty fun pumping and carving, it feels a little kooky, and it made me hungry to start street skating again.

So yeah, anyways here I am, old and sketchy with an ugly ollie, crappy boneless to tail, weak shove-it, and micro one footed ollie- all on my old pool board from 2005 that I ended up cracking on my second one-footed ollie attempt. Rails are so old they broke off (used to be neon pink). The faux dogtown board is my surf skate.

Just ordered an 8.5” blank, 53mm/95a OJ Nomads, Venture V8’s from Skate Warehouse. It’s hard to quit skating! 😅👴🏽

TLDR: Skateboarding- It’s a heluva drug!
