Family plumbing materials business is struggling badly

Hi everyone,

My father has been running a plumbing/SWR pipe fittings and sanitary materials business for years. We deal with PVC/SWR fittings and related products.

Previously, we used to supply across nearby local districts and business was stable. But now many companies are directly supplying dealers and markets themselves, so margins and demand for middle businesses like ours seem to be shrinking.

On top of that, the market is heavily dependent on credit. If we don't give credit, customers move elsewhere. If we do give credit, payments get delayed for months and sometimes don't come on time at all.

Right now we're stuck with slow-moving inventory.

I'm genuinely asking business owners here: if this

was your family business, what would you do?
