Hi all, I have a male, not desexed, nearly 5 month old GSP. At first I thought he was just a dream dog. I didn’t even have to toilet train him, he already just knew to only go out in the yard.

When we started taking him outside on the ground after his vaccines, he would love it for an hour, then start crying and laying down. I thought maybe he was getting overstimulated. But when we come home and take his harness off, he rushes straight out into the yard and does a wee.

All of the times we’ve walked him, he won’t wee or go number 2. I’m worried about him being uncomfortable and UTI’s so I’ve cut our outings down to at max an hour three times a day.

I thought maybe teaching a word associated with toileting would work, but it hasn’t so far (been at training this for a month).

How can I get him to go outside the yard?

Hi all, I have a 5 month old purebred GSP puppy, papers and all. He is MOSTLY black with a white ticked patch on his chest. And a liver coloured spot on his neck. In the shade, he is a solid black (liver spot still visible as it is a normal liver colour), however, in the sun he looks definitely like a dark chocolate colour. I am not well versed on this breeds colour coat genetics, so this could be a stupid question. Is their ‘black’ coat based off their liver pigment? Or could he be just a really dark liver? His dad is proper solid black, and his mum is a liver with white ticked patches. He has no solid black siblings like him, the rest were liver patched/ticked or roan. Tyia
