Prob should have ID’ed before releasing, dont think theres anything in NJ thats dangerous for my wife or dog tho…atleast hopefully not lol

Im thinking this is an eastern garter? Prob should have id’ed prior to releasing in my garden but he was too cute not to post

First year gardener here, some of the plants i picked up from the nursery are actually multiple, and i was unable to split the roots up. Transplanted about a week ago and everything seems to be taking well, but now i have a few planted they are way too close together. Im assuming i should select them down to one each? Or let them compete naturally?
