19, in university, and completely unsure what career to commit to
Hi, I'm 19 in university, and I don't have a dream profession. I just have a very clear idea of the kind of life I want to live. I want a career that can give me a very high income, strong long-term earning potential, useful and transferable skills, and enough flexibility to actually enjoy my life outside of work. I don't need my career to be my passion. I just want it to be the thing that funds the life I actually care about. So rather than spending another semester trying to discover some mythical perfect “calling,” cus throughout last summer, i was comparing “high-paying” jobs like tech, finance, engineering, law, healthcare, etc wondering which one was the right answer. I'm thinking I should just pick a strong field, commit to getting really good at it, and use it as the foundation for financial freedom. For people who were in a similar position at 18–20, how did you decide what career or field to commit to?
