Buying camper before child support hearing?
I have had an ongoing custody/child support case for over a year. Finally thought it was settled in September, but ex filed a new motion. The motion was dismissed as it was repetitive to what was covered in September. Now they have filed an appeal against the dismissal so it is now open (again). My spouse and I have been discussing getting a camper since June of last year. We decided to wait until the case was over. Well we thought it was over, so we started putting out feelers for a seasonal site and began looking at campers. We found a site and it is currently on hold for us, but we haven’t placed a deposit yet. We want to get the camper in asap and don’t want to let another season pass us by. But a camper is going to be a large purchase and I don’t want that to be misconstrued by the court as if we’re buying this camper just to increase expenses. That is not at all the case. We have been waiting nearly a year to do this and we’re tired of allowing my ex to control our lives. If we explain this situation to the court, is it likely to be acceptable? Or should we put off this purchase, yet again, and wait for the next ruling, which is months away? Our pre-trial is scheduled for mid-July.
