Loaners

Why do people think just because I’m fixing their car they are entitled to loaners? I swear it’s like when people are born they learn the word and meaning of loaner before anything else in the world. It’s so aggravating that this job has become anymore than just fixing peoples cars. Now I need to figure out their life problems and transportation issues. I don’t mind giving them out but I can’t stand how people expect them. Am I alone on this? I almost wish we didn’t have them at all so it wasn’t even an option.

Career change worth it?

Hi guys, 27 M with no kids, my GF Lives with me .Currently I’m a service advisor/ Manager in automotive and I’m just so burnt out of this job. I have been doing it for 4 years and been through so many ups and downs here, turnover and I can see the cycle starting again. Sometimes this job doesn’t have its bad days but majority are super stressful, my friends work there and I love a lot of the people, but I have had bad anxiety and chest pains due to this job at most times. I definitely am not fond of people anymore after constantly battling 24/7 with them. It does pay well though, I am on track to make probably 115k this year, I definitely feel the golden handcuffs. This money has allowed me to buy my first house by myself and truck. I currently have an offer from an insurance company as an automobile claims adjuster trainee for 28/hr, it’s a fully remote WFH job. But this is significant paycut, I calculated my bills and probably would only net maybe 300-500 per month in savings if that which is a lot less for me, this is almost a 50% paycut, I do have about 85K in the bank and 25K in my 401k so I feel like I’m doing okay in that department. I usually wouldn’t hesitate to take this job if I knew it would be a drastic stress improvement, but I’ve heard horror story’s about auto claims and how this may not be any better. I just don’t want to get into the same stress situation with half the income, that would ruin me mentally. This job is not a dream or anything like that, it’s just an escape at hope for a better life at this point, and give me some peace until I find a job I would actually like or possibly end up liking this one. They said that income can go up within the first year but of course that’s not a guarantee. I’m just at a point where this just consumes my mind that I don’t want to be doing this for the rest of my career, just not sure whether to keep looking for something similar and money that I like more or just get out. Just wanted some guidance or input on your thoughts on this situation and I how I should move forward? Thanks!
