UK based US citizens managing their own assets?

American living in Uk, two tax obligations/jurisdictions/returns. Had a wealth advisor for past few years. Nice guy, gives me perspective, but not worth the AUM fee. If I could go “fee-only” I would (but they don’t exist for dual tax jurisdictions like this). My accountant is great. I’m thinking, maybe I scrap the wealth advisor (I’m really only in dual reporting funds anyway) and just pay advice tax advice calls with my accountant when I want to do anything specific. Seems just as effective (and a lot cheaper), than current setup. But I guess I lack confidence and am worried I will miss some gigantic “gotcha” or loophole between the two systems.

Anyone else been on this journey already?

Thanks!

Wife having operation, looking for medium term private chef help

Hi,
Probably not the right forum. My wife is having an upcoming operation with a decent recovery period. We have a very active three year old and my work schedule is crazy . I want to hire private chef for several months so my wife can get nutritious food whilst she recovers. Any recommendations for southeast London?

Thanks!

Anyone done post (non surgical) physio rehab of meniscus tear and then checked result via MRI a couple years later??

I have complex medial meniscus tear as confirmed by MRI. Doctors said repair not possible and would be partial menisectomy if opted for surgery. Lots of inflammation , was on crutches for a few weeks. Slooowwwlly, inflammation has gone and I’m doing very extensive, professionally advised physio. Seeing lots of improvement. Could be fleeting and I may end up in surgery after all. But for, fingers crossed!!

Question: has anyone had a meniscus tear , skipped surgery and done physio and done an MRI a couple years later to see if meniscus healed on its own??

I keep hearing mixed things as to whether it heals (especially red-white/white zone) or , if people just train enough leg muscles to where the tear doesn’t cause any more inflammation but tear still there…

Only to verify would be via MRI up to a couple years later I imagine!!

Complex meniscus tear (w/ locking) - doc giving me 50/50 chance of repair

Due to the complexity of tear, duration since it happened (October/Novembed 205), and my age (early 40s), doc giving me 50/50 chance of repair success. Otherwise, I’d have to do partial menisectomy when it fails.

The repair would includes Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF), a collagen
scaffold (Chondrofiller), and medicinal signalling cells-MSC (Lipogems) from your own
body fat. We will also address the cartilage damage with Chondrofiller . The chance of the
meniscus healing with this repair is approximately 50/50.

If the repair fails, a partial
meniscectomy would then be required.

  1. Anyone had these novel treatments applied during the operation?
  2. Also, I’m trying to figure out if the “circumferential sutures” increases risk that a future partial menisectomy would take more off meniscus because it’s an “all or nothing” whereas a partial repair and partial menisectomy now, for instance, could mean only 30% of meniscus taken out now (rather than potentially 70% taken out later due to failed repair of circumferential sutures)?

The data on all this novel stuff seems mixed/unknown.
