Fruit Stand Guy (FSG) by Broadway and 46th

Hey just letting folks know (because someone posted about it a while ago) - the fruits and veggie stand guy there is just on vacation. Kids bought them month-long trips abroad, so they're livin' it up! They'll be back when they're back, no worries.

Gonna have a picnic on Saturday 8/8 at Astoria Park, 12pm! Picnic Blanket, some wine and cheeses, frisbee - little bit of music maybe - feel free to come on over!

We've met a few Astorian Redditors thus far and it's been a blast. Weather should be good - bring sunscreen!

Dance Classes anywhere in Astoria?

Ok team, let's get this right! Anywhere that offers dance classes? Where, what sort of style, do you need to bring a partner or are solo attendees able to participate - we need the deets!

Dinner at Nisi Estiatoria - 6pm Friday the 12th

First of all, shout-out to u/ginger_turmeric and u/honeybee_funnily in particular for showing up for some grub. Sorry they didn't have the fish soup ginger, and you literally missed honeybee showing up like two minutes after you left.

We had good times! Ginger's gonna cure all diseases in the world, and we bought a round of champagne because honeybee just got her business to be self-sustaining. Awesome-possum.

Said I'd do it again the next weekend, so what the hell - Dinner at Nisi again on Friday, and then I think I'm gonna take my ass to the Slipper Room afterwards, where I will watch some burlesque performers take -their- asses... well... all over the place.

Anyways! It's a great time, at both Nisi as well as the Slipper Room. Who knows - if we're having a good time at Nisi we might just keep on keepin' on there, but I haven't seen a good show in a minute so I'm itchin' to go.

You do NOT need to DM me to ask questions about it - all the pertinent deets (that's what the kids call 'details' these days, I think) is right in the head of the post.

Enjoy your day and the rest of your week, Astoria!

Dinner at Nisi Estiatoria - 6pm Sunday the 7th

Only a few hours' notice, but hey - why not.

I'll (probably) post a weekly post about grabbing a meal some time Fri/Sat/Sun, because good lord there are so many posts looking for friends/dates/whatever - and I'm personable, dammit!

So's my roommate. She's dope too.

So! Tonight, in about two and a half hours, Nisi Estiatorio. Come on by, and if you ask the bartender "Hey, I hear you have good gimlets", I'll buy you a drink. You can then either promptly ignore me/us, or you can start up a conversation.

Let's see how this goes (and if, uh, the mods think this is a horrible idea, well - you know what to do, and my apologies preemptively).

Cheers Astorians - maybe see you out there!

Audiobook Narrator Search!

Hey mods, feel free to remove if this isn't particularly relevant, but - I love the town so I'd love to hire locally if possible. Your call of course!

Anyways - I have an audiobook production studio. Looking to hire a female narrator right now (we record uniquely in the industry - live duet recording, which is not really done by anyone else). I have an exiting female narrator who's leaving us after 6+ years so we're looking for a replacement. Honestly though I love teaching folks about the gig, so if anyone male or female wants to learn a bit about the industry I'm happy to teach folks if they've got time when I've got time.

We have a fully decked out studio with 4 full booths, my company has produced thousands of audiobooks, and we have oodles of clients. If you're interested, gimme a shout and I'll be happy to chat!
