2-Year Gap for Govt Prep: Looking for beginner-friendly AI backup roles (B.Tech 2023, 26M)

Hi everyone, 26M here. I completed my B.Tech in 2023 and worked in Cybersecurity (Support + DAST) for about 10 months including 6 month internship before leaving in Jan 2025 to pursue government exam prep.

This is my last attempt, and I'm looking to build a strong backup plan in AI. Given my 2-year career gap and basic tech background (networking, OWASP), what beginner-friendly AI roles should I target? Also, if anyone here has cracked a job after a gap year, I’d love to hear your story or tips. Thanks!

ADHD Vs Normal Procastination , lazziness

Title: 26M : Am I actually ADHD or just a lazy, perfectionist procrastinator?

Hey everyone,

I’m a 26M from India. I worked in IT (cybersecurity) for about 1.5 years before quitting. I am currently at home preparing for competitive government exams.

I recently went to a government hospital for a thorough novopsych assessment. The results showed a high probability of ADHD, and today I was prescribed and took my very first dose of Methylphenidate (10mg).

Despite a professional diagnosis, I am flooded with guilt and imposter syndrome. I keep thinking myself with the thought that I’m just using ADHD as an excuse for my failures, laziness, and procrastination. I really want to understand the difference.

My childhood / academic background:

  • I was a school topper in primary school, and consistently in the top 10-15 until high school. and above average in university
  • I never had the "typical" hyperactive symptoms like running around, impulsivity, or losing my things not the forgetfullness .
  • However, when subjects requiring heavy memorization (History, Geography, Biology) were introduced, things started getting a lot harder.and boring for me math physics are intresting for me
  • I have always been a massive daydreamer. Even now while studying, I completely lose focus because I start vividly imagining that I am standing in front of someone, explaining the topic to them instead of actually reading it.
  • i asked my parents they say you are lazy form child hood

My adult struggles:

  • I have a massive consistency problem. I start a new goal completely full of motivation for the first 2–3 months. like prepare for jee in 2018 than cat 2 times and now ssc .Then, the novelty fades, I start procrastinating, get mentally overwhelmed by the backlog, and completely lose momentum.
  • i started many habits like reading books , meditation singing but left all in between
  • when i go to study daydreaming started unable to focus and concentrate feel the task i can complete in few month taking long time
  • mental overload problem , limerence about a girl
  • I experience severe perfectionism. I want to complete task but not able to so and than guilt and hating myself
  • I leave absolutely some of the things for last second.
  • i experience hyperactivity some time times like doing vibe coding and some task

My experience today with my first 10mg of methylphenidate dose:

I felt a slight heaviness in my head, but I noticed something unusual: during lunch, I didn’t feel that constant, itching urge to pick up my phone and mindlessly scroll through reels/social media. It felt little bit quitter .

Has anyone else gone through this? Any advice from anyone . so i can understand better whether i have adhd

Thanks in advance.
