Weekend Open Discussions on the Art of Cinema across film industries

r/ChitraLoka welcomes open discussions on film art, artists, musicians, albums, and anything related to cinema across all industries, locally and globally.

We are, and will always remain, a proud Kannada subreddit dedicated to the Kannada Film Industry, Sandalwood. Alongside that identity, we also want ChitraLoka to be a platform that appreciates and discusses cinema beyond boundaries, because art has always transcended cultures, norms, and borders.

This measure has been taken based on poll results, where a majority of users expressed their interest in discussing cinema beyond KFI.

To ensure Weekend Discussions do not dilute ChitraLoka core identity of Kannada cinema, the following guidelines will be strictly enforced:

  1. Discussions related to industries beyond KFI will be permitted only on weekends, Saturday and Sunday.

  2. Posts related to such discussions must compulsorily use the flair “Weekend Open Discussion.” Posts using other flairs may be automatically removed by AutoModerator.

  3. Only meaningful discussions, analysis, reviews, recommendations, retrospectives, and cinema related conversations are encouraged. Low-effort posts may get removed.

  4. Moderation during weekends will be stricter. Hate posts, hateful comments, mockery, harassment, or agenda driven negativity against artists or industries will not be tolerated.

Thank you.

Let us celebrate the art of cinema together.

For those that are harassing the sub and me.

From past few days I'm seeing a lot of hate comments towards this sub and mods (including me). Surprisingly, almost of those accounts keep repeating one name, Shitraloka. They say the other sub is better than ours, they say this sub is useless, etc. My genuine response, if you hate this sub so much, just don't visit here. If you love, absolutely love any other sub, please stick there, why bother visiting Chitraloka to make a point that you hate it?

I hope you all know that commenting in a sub helps it to have more engagement, if you hate this sub, don't help it have more engagement by commenting hateful opinions.

Chitraloka doesn't have any issue with any sub, be it Shitraloka or any other. Shitraloka is a sub of its own, it has its own audience, we have no issue with any of it.

However I personally draw a line here. There is a whole post in Shitraloka targeted at me, users discussing harassing me by rage baiting me. Thanks to the user that identified it and made a post on it.

I didn't want to make a post on this thinking its just a silly mess up from naive users but unfortunately, after this incident I'm facing more harassment. Incidentally the ones that are harassing me are regular users of Shitraloka. I genuinely hope the mods there will regulate the rules better by not encouraging such harassment.

Hereafter, regulations in our sub will be more stricter towards low effort posts, hateful and aggressive accounts.

I don't mean to imply that one shouldn't be critical of the regulations of Chitraloka, surely point out the mistakes when you find. You could mod mail us or could personally drop me a message about it. You can surely openly criticize the sub in any comments or making posts, but keep it constructive. Hateful approach will not be tolerated.

Chitraloka is only focusing on encouraging more discussion on Kannada Film Industry, art and artists. Help the community grow better by contributing your thoughts, opinions, and purposeful content by indulging in meaningful conversations.

Thank you.

Do you want Chitraloka to encourage discussion over other local, and foreign film industries? This is to encourage healthy, thoughtful, and informative discussion over art and artists. Choose your options, based on the final result we will add regulations accordingly.

Disha Madan at Cannes was confident, spoke well, didn't fake her accent, bought a place for herself with her own money. Why are only ambitious men applauded, but not woman?

What is the purpose of undergoing the exam of spirituality, why successfully pass only to be in my already original form that is perfect, stable and conscious?

Krishna in Gita say that our soul is stable, already perfect, full conscious, nectar like, ecstatic, etc. When Atma(soul) enters the body, it loses takes a seat back, lets the body take over the subconscious. To our mind and body we don't realize we are the auspicious Atma, so we indulge in worldly activities and increase karma. We take rebirth until we realize our true form but in this process, our karma decides our life.

The question is, why put Atma into a body that takes over Avidya? There is nothing to achieve here as our soul is already perfect but yet we gotta pass each and every test. There's something that has to get fixed. Unfortunately, Arjuna doesn't ask this question to Krishna, but I'm intrigued. Can anyone answer please?

For all the females out there

The movie name is Benkiyalli Aralida Hoovu, I recommend this to all the woman out here. KFI lately hasn't shown sensitivity to cater to female audience, but the old KFI never missed doing that. This is not a typical storyline of a soft-girl or meek girl being abused by fate, rather it is about a responsible woman running the household.

The female lead takes up responsibility as of a man to feed her family, to nurture their future. The difficulty a woman face to challenge against the norms, sacrifices a responsible person has to make, everything is beautifully pictured. The concept is so bold, sensitive and strong, I wonder if today's writers has guts to write anything closer to this. This is one of the Kannada films that absolutely inspired me.

Hope ya'll will like it.

A reminder to never shy away from appreciating the talented artists. Also a reminder to criticize the bad ones so that the talented ones get their space.

I guess we should appreciate the talented artists before they meet an end.

I recently watched Love Mocktail 3, well, this isn't a review of the movie so I'm gonna skip that part, watching Dileep Raj as a lawyer in the movie, I felt him and Shwetha were the only artists who truly did a good job in the movie. Infact I wanted to make a post on the movie saying the only worthy element in the movie is the work done by Dileep and Shwetha, but I missed making that post. I guess it's never too late to appreciate the talented artists.

Dileep Raj may not have worked as a hero but his name and face will always be remembered due to the characters he played so efficiently. I'm not exaggerating this especially now because of his demise, but the fact is, Dileep and Shwetha were the only saving grace in LM3.

Rest in peace.

Hello ಕನ್ನಡ Ciniphiles,

To encourage more thoughtful, honest, and meaningful discussions about the Kannada film industry, we are introducing a new “Criticism” flair.

Let us use this flair to:

  1. Critical analysis of films, actors, directors, producers, or industry trends.

  2. Constructive opinions on problematic practices within Sandalwood.

  3. Discussions about creative decline, industry decisions, nepotism, audience trends, or public personalities.

  4. Well-articulated concerns about the direction of Kannada cinema.

  5. Other concerns concerning anything and everything to KFI.

Strict Guidelines: The flair is strictly for constructive, respectful criticism and must not be used to spread hatred, personal attacks, defamation, or tainted agendas against individuals or the Kannada film industry.

Posts under this flair will be monitored closely to ensure discussions remain civil and productive.

This flair is meant to encourage open discussion while maintaining quality and respect.

Use it responsibly.
