If you're confused, just check out the other trending posts on this sub. I don't enjoy the hardline stance most commenters are making. Can we agree upon some underlying truths here?
The man depicted in the video is not harmless, he does put people/animals in danger.
Whether or not he should have been shot does not justify every other time the GRPD has shot someone.
The video makes a compelling argument of why he was killed. However, police are allowed to lie (to suspects and to the general public). This rightfully draws public scrutiny.
Just because the GRPD can lie doesn't mean they are lying about this situation.
This seems like a powder keg for thoughtless criticism. I am not an "enlightened centrist", I am a lefty. But we gotta find healthier ways to discuss this stuff.
Edit: I think this thread has fulfilled its purpose - to understand why different people feel the way they do about law enforcement. I have been swayed to think differently about some of the points I listed. Take care of your neighbors, look out for your loved ones ❤️
