2007 Tahoe AFM Issue?
Not too familiar with this system. My mom had a loss of power on her 07 tahoe while driving on the highway one day and mentioned a tapping noise coming from the engine bay. She took it to a mechanic which found codes for transmission related problem, he did a transmission drain and transmission reset and the problem went away for some time. When it returned however it came back with shaking and the truck dying when coming to a stop. She said it would start to shake on the highway and she’d pull over, turn it off then on again and it would seem to fix it for some miles before returning. She did this for a bit until it became too much of a hassle so she parked it. It’s been sitting for 3 years now and when i visited her home last mother’s day i saw it parked and asked her which is when she told me all this ^. I put my trucks battery in and got it to start and nothing. No shaking or nothing. When i pressed the gas it sounded like the engine was under very high strain, the fainted tapping which sounded more like injectors but very very high strain which i want to say was coming from the alternator. Oil pressure stayed at 30psi. I was expecting the engine to be toast but this leads me to believe it’s gotta be AFM. It gave me hope that the engine is not totally dead but like i said i’m unfamiliar with it. I was unable to drive it since the tires were flat and couldn’t hold air but anyone got 2¢ on here? I’ll be back over there later this year or might just pay a tow for it to my place 3 hours away not sure yet. I will mention the only codes i pulled were C0561-71 and a U0073-00.
