Hey all. I have a 23 RST with 88k miles. I’ve been noticing over the past several months from a stop, or in rush hour stop/go traffic, the transmission shifts hard, almost like there’s a delay when you hit the accelerator. It’s very noticeable and frankly annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this and what was the solution?
We bought the all weather cargo mat that was dealer installed. They were installed with two cheap circles of Velcro that don’t hold it in place at all. They’re always shifting when you put stuff in the trunk and the Velcro has already come off after using the trunk 3 times! Any suggestions for how to keep it in place and not always shifting?
I was driving home from 4th of July celebrations this morning and got ABS + TC warning lights on the dash of my 04 LT. I have an OBD-II scanner module installed, cranked up the app, ran a scan for all available codes and got error codes for these two issues. Plus a laundry list of other problems that I hadn't seen before today. I have tools to use. At least enough to do minor to intermediate repairs myself. But, I'm a novice mechanic, at best. So I wouldn't know where even to begin with diagnosing these issues, on my own. I'd at least like a severity-level based on the data so I know what to tackle first. Are there any issues here that I'd absolutely need to take to a shop for proper repair? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanking the group in advance, for any help.
P.S., Sorry if the images are hard to see I don't know how to make them clearer. I can clarify the data if anyone needs it.
Anyone have any idea how to get this fixed? So annoying keeps flopping back and fourth on every bump. 2020 Chevy Tahoe LT
I haven’t driven my Tahoe in an few weeks and today when I got back home I notice I lost 3 out of my 4 center cap. I did a favor for my friend and he bought me a new set, I not a fan but I don’t have extra money for the original caps. The left/outline bowtie is my new one and my old set is the right/golden bowtie. At first I thought I would like the new set but after putting them on I starting to missed my old one.
i have a coworker getting rid of their tahoe. it’s pretty nice. they were telling me the 4wd hub needs to be replaced they have a 2wd on it now. (something like that i’m not 100% i forget) also said in winter the oil pressure drops sometimes? but other than that it drives really good. better than my malibu with 240k miles on it. i think i want it but i need other with experience with these to tell me if its smart or not. thank you for your time! also the motor and transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago. is this a good buy or no? i will keep my malibu for daily driving or longer distance. but i want an suv for trips/ work.
I like the maneuverability of a shorter SUV. If I wanted the extra storage space, I would get a Suburban.
Power steering suddenly went out on my 2016 LTZ. What should I be looking for first? Belt is attached so I’m not sure where to start.
I am honestly a bit dumbfounded at how little people care about theft / vandalism in PDX. Sure leaving backpacks (with laptops) hidden under the third row may have been a gamble but just everyone was so unhelpful / not phased by it. Was visiting with family and honestly left the most sour taste in my mouth / won't return until they figure out how to prosecute thieves for once.
I have a 2012 Escalade and the tranny is on its last leg. It has 140k miles on it and I think it’s not worth replacing since it’s only worth around 12k. I found a 2019 Escalade with 51000 miles for 37k from dealership.
I like the new LT or RST tahoes but I don’t want to stress about the engine problem after dropping all that money. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.
I can’t go ford or Toyota after driving Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade for the past 22yrs.
This was my dad on the way to work . Auto braking causes the car behind him to crash into him. Tell me what you think

Thoughts?
I purchased a 2016 Tahoe LT with about 160k mi. It was one owner, immaculate service records, immaculate interior, recently replaced transmission. I was ecstatic. I made sure I purchased a good warranty through Omega Autocare so I felt like I was in good shape.
One day on the way home it started jurking badly like the transmission was slipping but when I finally made it home it had a terrible idle and it sounded like it might have had a tick.
The next morning I drove it slowly to a large Chevy dealership to get looked at. I told them I didn't know what caused it, maybe touque converter, maybe lifters idk.
Two days later the service advisor called me and said they found large metal shavings in the oil pan and recommended an engine replacement.
I was shocked because I babied this thing and always changed my oil regularly and had never noticed any type of metal at all.
I connected the advisor to the warranty company so that a claim could be initiated. Meanwhile I'm paying for a rental car out of pocket as my wife and 5 kids can't be left without transportation.
After a week the warranty company requested the engine be opened to find a "failed component", the advisor asked if I would authorize this work because if the claim was denied, I would be responsible for the charges. I asked the advisor to make sure his "30 year master GM mechanic" was sure we would find a failure and he said "well yeah the metal came from somewhere"
So I agreed. They tore into the engine and submitted images of what they found: Worn cams and pistons with scoring. The warranty company said that that was from "high mileage wear and not a failure" so they requested the bottom of the engine be opened to look for any single failed component.
Meanwhile I'm still paying for a rental (over $1400)
They opened the engine IN FRONT OF THE WARRANTY REP and they didn't find any failed component and they denied my claim...
Now I'm left with an engine in pieces, and a $13k quote to replace the engine.
I told them my wife is 8 months pregnant and at this rate I wouldn't even have a vehicle to bring her home in and that I couldn't possibly pay that much and the best they could do was 9k to put my engine back together and no guarantee it wouldn't blow up.
I need advice.
I can't give the vehicle up because I still owe 13k on it and I can't pay 13k or 9k to get it going again. The only option I have is to pay the 1300 I owe for the teardown and tow it to another place ..
I'm stressed out to the max and my baby is almost here
EDIT I just left the dealership and I managed to convince them to help me. They lowered their hourly rate to employee pricing and parts at-cost. They brought the total down to 5k out the door. I'm going to take the total back to the warranty company and demand they cover the charges, considering it was only torn down at their insistence.
I still feel like I'm screwed because whatever caused my vehicle to jurk and idle rough is likely still going to be there and I'll have to sort that out soon.
I'm confident it will be in better shape than when I sent it in because they are charging gaskets, seals, intercooler etc so I am thankful for that bit, just not at the cost of 5k
Lesson learned.
Hey all! New to the ChevyTahoe community, anyone familiar with this part? Wife found it under 3rd row seat, looks like it popped off of something? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
I was driving and the engine started making noises and then completely shut off. Turned out to be part of the engine recall. It took nine and a half weeks for the engine to get to the dealer and another week and a half for the service.
has anyone downloaded the latest update to the tahoe. if so, what does it include?
Just picked this up at auction for $4300 and 153k. Runs like a sewing machine they took great care of this thing based on service records it has never gone over 5k for an oil change and had stuff replaced when recommend by techs.
Should i get an afm disabler with this many miles already on the clock or just keep up with the early consistent oil changes.
I have this '25 RST with 10K miles. We just came back from a trip to The Great Rocky Mountains in TN and NC back to Florida. The first day driving up the mountains the transmission fluid ran about 215 Degrees, which I thought was OK giving the circumstances . However the next day going up the mountains, I stopped to get some food and left it running since family was still in the car and AC on for like 10 mins. When I came back, I noticed the transmission was at 235 degrees. So I drove to the nearest area and parked it to cool down while we walked around. I called two local Chevy dealerships and spoke to the service advisors and both told me while that's hot, as long as it goes down below 220 it should be fine considering where you are driving. As normal is under 220 up to 230 if towing. Plus as long as no warning lights or msgs, not to worry as they have many sensors that if anything out of the ordinary it will send a msg. So when we drove back to Florida, the whole way it varied between 205 and 220 at about 85 mph for the whole 10 hour trip home. What do you all think, am I OK or should this not be happening. I was worried I get stranded so far away with the family but thankfully we made it. Thank you all for any knowledgeable feedback.
